I purposely destroyed this Nismo V3...Many pics

So I bought this Nismo V3 front end from another member about 6 months ago. I will refrain from mentioning the number or his name because I believe he sold this car as undamaged which I can assure you it was not.

Long story short, I got this front end for a song. Of course there was no undertray or associated parts. Also I did not particularly care for the Nismo buckteeth; although I really wanted a longnose with nismo style and OEM fitment.

So this is the result:

I think now it is kind of Nismo/Amuse superleggera. Also added a carbon front splitter for good measure.

Now the back of my car looks very plain.

Let me know what you think...

DB350 06-04-2011 03:44 PM

paint match is off :(

other than that, looks alright

singh 06-04-2011 03:45 PM

honestly i think it looks kind of pointless to have that piece under the arch.. i mean might as well flatten it out the whole thing then..

i guess i just think oem looks better than all

I'm well aware... it was painted off the car. silverstone is notoriously hard to match.
I wish it was dead on but... it is passable in person.

davidv 06-04-2011 04:02 PM

You put lots of hours into this. Looks good.

SmoothZ 06-04-2011 04:04 PM

I agree with davidv. Good job on the DIY.

zerostyle 06-04-2011 04:06 PM

+3 good job.....delete the splitter just cuz the way the bumper arches up and theres a gap there. looks tacky imo

yup. but silver is one of the hardest color to match. not to noticeable tho

ImWeeZzel 06-04-2011 06:03 PM

I like it, are you going to get sides and a rear bumper? If so what kind?

deezz 06-04-2011 06:08 PM

I agree with removing the splitter...otherwise excellent DIY.

verdict. 06-04-2011 06:10 PM

KingBaby 06-04-2011 06:18 PM

In person I'm sure it look lts better!

FATPUBUS 06-04-2011 06:20 PM

I like it! It does look like it has lips tho...

Flo-ridaZ33 06-04-2011 06:29 PM

Looks good... I remember his FS thread.

BTarb24 06-04-2011 06:42 PM

Thanks all... I understand it isn't for everyone.

I'd really like to find some nismo v3 side add-ons and a voltex rear diffuser.

I considered creating another carbon piece to fill the gap in between the bumper lip and the splitter; however the splitter itself was enough work to make me reconsider. :icon9: The splitter is adding a LOT of rigidity to this bumper and support for the lip on the inside. Removing it at this time is not an option.

It was either splitter or buy that overpriced nissan piece to connect the undertray. I created an aluminum piece ala "zspeed undershroud" to connect to the stock undertray but was underwhelmed by how it looked.

dcastillo819 06-04-2011 08:53 PM

I thought u hit a curb head on just by reading the thread title. lol. But it looks good. Just dont really care for the carbon fiber.

350zfan1 06-05-2011 09:26 AM

Looks good man from a fellow silver z owner.

Actually going the same route just waiting on nissan to ship my oem nismo front bumper from cali.

Already have the nismo v3 sideskirt add on's and the actual v3 wing along with the voltex diffuser.

FRESH Z 06-05-2011 09:57 AM

Nice work!

terrasmak 06-05-2011 10:01 AM

A couple of support rods and a filler panel, your good to go.

saywat? 06-06-2011 05:28 PM

shoulda jus removed all the buck teeth

bagged00 06-06-2011 07:12 PM

Bumpers don't match from factory. Also good luck matching any paint perfectly with out tinting or painting the whole front(other then black and white). Looks good man

Lakeside 06-06-2011 07:22 PM

You shaved out the emblem but left the stupid side reflectors!!! :(

If it was me, I would have filled/shaved the reflectors. Also, the flat piece underneath needs togo.

IMHO

BoomerZ33 06-07-2011 05:20 AM

yup should've shaved the reflectors as well. looks good tho.

eddogz 06-07-2011 06:41 AM

Is it hungry? Does it want something to eat?

vex008 06-07-2011 07:01 AM

like the removal of the "teeth"
don't like addition of the front splitter
hard to tell how it goes with the rest of the car as you have not provided pictures of the rest of the car
but the addition of v3 sides and voltex rear diffuser should look good anyhow.

I had originally planned to do so... plastic welding is a biatch though! After I had repaired the crack and filled the area of the removed teeth, I had had enough plastic welding.

Reflectors are actually dry carbon sheet with aluminum brackets. Not quite as good as filling them but better than painting reflectors.

As far as how it goes with the rest of the car... it doesn't. Aero on the parts you can't see is completely stock. I plan to change that in the future but $$ is holding me back!

TheFarmer 06-07-2011 04:51 PM

Looks good.

I should have them installed within the next week! Sure the markers won't be filled but at least the markers will be paint matched for now. I can get that MCR box off the shelf in the garage! After, ummm 2 years? I forget how long I have had them. lol

damudafukn 04-02-2016 09:38 PM

Where did you get this splitter?

A-Town-Z 04-06-2016 07:32 AM

^bro this is 5 years old

damudafukn 04-07-2016 09:19 AM

yeah i see that, im trying to find a splitter/diffuser that fits my v3 nismo bumper.

iideadeyeii 04-07-2016 10:50 AM

Looks like a shitty ebay universal splitter closethread

Actually made it myself... thanks for the compliment though.

Also haven't had this setup on my car since 2012... Had a C-west long nose and now I'm back to a Nismo V3 with all the "teeth" in place.

You made your own flat piece of carbon fiber that specifically looks like a universal cf ebay splittler and you sacrificially made it not to follow the lines of the front bumper?

iideadeyeii 04-20-2016 12:06 PM

It's oddly shaped exactly like this one on ebay

I didn't make it to look like a universal splitter, any resemblence is purely coincidental. If you looked more closely at the picture with a slight view of the bottom, you'd see that the splitter is flat across the back from the end corners of the bumper so it's not just like that universal one. Also the core material is 1/2" nida-core, and that was layered with 2 layers of 1x1 and 2x2 carbon weave. Also impregnated aluminum mounting points under the carbon weave. It was about as solid as a piece of wood, but much lighter. I'm no master of carbon construction but it was a decent first attempt.

Anyways it served it's purpose for the time I had it on there. Deflected many curbs from scratching the bottom lip. I never did fill in the gap as I had gotten a C west long nose and matching sides... and this was all 4 years ago now.
