Tint along top of windshield (brow)
Was wondering if anyone has ever gotten this on their Z. I have seen 1 or 2 pics with it it, but couldn't tell if it was a custom windshield with tint built into the glass, or just a strip of reg tint.
Also, I notice on the tint laws page, there's a column marked "Visor". Does that refer to this? And if I live in a state that's marked "NO" under visor, would I get pulled over for it? Where do you put your EZ Pass if not there (it looks like a big dumb white square on ur car if you attach it next to the rearview). |
the strip along the top of the windshield is called a visor tint. usually they are allowed in almost every state i believe
|
sh** not mine...
|
Just tint the whole windshield with 50% and call it a day. The strip looks dumb.

i did the strip in 5% then put 35 over the whole windshield
|
Interesting.
Thanks for the info. Empire, is that the Stillen license bracket? |
Do whatever you want if it's legal (or not if you so choose). Just don't go below the marking on the inside of your windshield that indicates the lowest it can go. I forget what it's called, as I haven't seen one in a while. It's on either side.

yall have some bs laws...move to FL :D
New Jersey Tint Law Enacted: 2003 HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN NEW JERSEY? Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In New Jersey, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. Windshield No tint is allowed on the windshield. Front Side Windows No tint can be applied legally to this window. Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used. Rear Window Any darkness can be used. HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN NEW JERSEY? Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light. Front Side Windows No metallic or mirrored appearance. Back Side Windows No metallic or mirrored appearance. |
Well, I had front windows tinted in my last car for 2 years, no tickets.
Then, as I'm driving to the dealership to trade the car in for the Z, I get stopped. I am def gonna get the rear sides and trunk done.. prolly 35%... and maybe do the sides a real light tint so it's mostly unnoticeable. The visor area is wht does my head in. How's that illegal? Almost every car I've ever had, had it factory. My EZ Pass looks like a big retarded white pillbox taped to my windshield. |

i put 20% tint on all the glass & 50% on the windsheild |
50 is not hard to see out of at night?
|
What should I tell my doctor to get him to give me a note for legal tint I wonder...?
|
you wear contacts? eyes sensitive? lol
|
No, but I have white, pasty Conan O'Brien skin.
|
i got 35% on my windshield yesterday to match my 35% sides and rear. Took it off this morning, couldnt see at night. plus the windshield appeared darker than the sides and rear looking from both inside and out.
like already said, remove strip and go with 50% entire windshield |

Just curious for the people with 50% on the windshield. How is your night visibility in your opinion?

I'm about to get 50% on my windshield, but I'm kinda leaning to 35%...
Anyone got more pics of the %50 (Travis:)) |
Now with the visor tint, what did they do near the little black dots? I can't imagine the tint sticks very well in those spots. I just want the visor tint because I got my windshield replaced and the new one has all dots but they are not even close to as tight as the stock ones so you can see my nav sensor and radar mirror mount.
|
i think strip is looks stupid, and tinting your windshield is even more stupid... (i would think)
i find it very hard to see out my side windows , say parking, with 25%. so i would think even 50% on the front windshield would be dangerous just wear sunglasses, save yourself money and not put yourself in any more danger |

This is what makes me want to go 35%
http://g35driver.com/forums/4420007-post19.html |
When I was getting it done at the shop I almost went with a strip, but the guy talked me into getting the windshield done. I'm glad I did, but with 15% on the sides, I wouldn't want anything darker than 45% up front.
|
Well i have 5% On everything else :dunno:
I think I'm going to try 50% first, I guess it would be better to have it to light than too dark  |
I hate NJ....
|
so with 5% on my rear glass will i have any visibility?!? lol
|
You get used to it :D lol
But regardless of the tint, our rearview mirror sux a$$!!! After mine broke, I didn't even bother replacing it  not like it was helpfull or something :p lol |
well my system is going to take up most of it anyways lol im getting it tinted for the security reason so u cant see in as much...
|
System
Got pics? Or thread? :D But even with 5% you can still see up close :(, I'm hoping with the windshield tinted it will make it darker :) But when I throw up the visor, you can't see shii :p lol |
Thread will come when i finish it...its a long process cuz of no time to work, plus i want to show finished product all at once! ill PM u a pic of my progress so far!
