Side mirrors that *almost* don't suck.

Ok ok, I know for 40ish dollars these have to blow....but....

I like the idea. If someone would buy a set, jerk out all the BS indicator lighting, and vacuum mold some carbon fiber over them. I think they would look killer.

I have better things to spend my cash on, just thinking out loud. I happened upon these while perusing amazon and thought about this.

Anyway. What's the deal with indicator lighting anyway? I mean on a big SUV or large truck I can KIND OF understand the necessity for visibility purposes. But on a car as tiny as the 350.... It's kind of dumb.

Even in CF they will still be rice

i feel like these would make the z look like it had the "big ear" effect -- yuck. but im curious about that mirror shape.

Tackett Nov 25, 2012 03:18 PM

Ditto.

I'm more interested in the general idea more than the product.

I'm half tempted to buy these and try this project out.

Pull out the outside indicator light, fill and bondo the hole.
Wrap it in carbon fiber and resin. (There's a member that does that kind of thing.)
Simply don't plug up the stupid mirror indicator light.
I would also try to swap out the cheap servo that's probably in those for the oem servo from the factory mirrors.

That would make a quality piece. Now if it looked good or not on the car would be a different story...I guess it depends on the scale and how big/small it is compared to the car.

So they're copies of the F430 mirror, might work?

Tackett Nov 25, 2012 03:59 PM

Yes they are copies.

I don't know however, if they angle up like the 430 or if they are straight like the Lamborghini.

They look pretty straight.

Tackett Nov 25, 2012 04:00 PM

**** it.

I bought them.

Good God man that is horrendous

The Ganador, APR, or Craft Square mirrors are the only ones that I think should ever be used other than OEM

These will look goofy and too long but I'm in for installed pics anyway :icon43:

Tackett Nov 25, 2012 04:25 PM

Well see what they look like.

For 45 bucks I'm not optimistic. Worse case scenario at least ill have something to use temporarily in case I get a mirror knocked off or something.

bbs350z Nov 25, 2012 04:31 PM

im down for some double fried rice. ill wait for the pics.

I've never been a fan of the Z33 aftermarket mirror selection. I always dug on the Bomex mirrors but they got no Z love:

Ew...I can see why it gets no love. Just my 2 cents. It's not my style.
