350z fuel door
So i dislike the fuel door on my 350z and how i have to really push it to get it back into place. Has anyone ever put a g35 fuel door actuator in? they appear to have the same mounts and it sure would be easier that the button release that we have now. :dunno:

I haven't had a problem with the fuel door on my Z. Yet...

I don't have a problem closing it, my problem is getting it open...I have to wedge my key and let it hang so it puts tension on the door

I just find the G35 one so much easier, (the actuator is disabled) so it really is just press to open. It doesnt look like anyone has done this yet though

The latch is on the solenoid, which is the red X in the picture. The green arrow is the switch that operates the solenoid to release the door. Pushing the door in operates the switch.
The only thing different between the G35 and the Z is the location of the switch. I prefer to have it on the bottom of the dash. The G35 gas door release is subject to the same problems as the on the Z. They may even be worse because of the co-location of the actuator and switch. |

Realign it....simple fix at least in my case when it would not always release. Been fine for 7 years since...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I have found. http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/2246/r35nf.jpg |
You're right. It looked like a switch, but obviously it's not.
Seems like the spring on the G35 gas door would have to pull the door closed against the ball point pen actuator thingie, whereas the spring on the Z pushes the door out when the solenoid is activated to unlatch the door. How much trouble is it to change the spring arrangement? |
