Installed Bat's Overlays
 

I installed Bat's overlays on the side markers, headlights and rear bumper lenses. They look pretty darn good and fit just great. I chose the smoke color and will be getting the tail light overlays next week. I like the way the overlays look changes depending on whether you are in the direct sun or in the shade. They really look dark in the shade. Absolutely no problem with the turn signals not beiing bright enough through the overlays.......they can be seen just fine.

not diggin the overlays on the headlights though.... it kinda looks like eyeshadow...... or raccoon's eyes.:)

lol :D Don't mention raccoons...........I am having a hard time keeping those darn things away from my swimming pool at night.

That is the good thing about the overlays, if you don't like 'em, they peel right off. I like them though.

By the way mgl, because of how good that front lip of yours looks, I am ordering one. Have you had any trouble getting into driveways or anything with yours? Any scrapes?

nice job..were they easy to put on?..im getting mine next week..did you use the soap method or just stick em on...the bigger overlays usually require the soap and water as opposed to the small.

the veilside lip seems to give the best ground clearance that any other lip on the market...it doesnt make the front much lower

no real problems with scrapes or anything. just the parking garage at my work has some really steep inclines, so i scraped the lip once cuz i was going too fast. i now take my time and go at an angle.....sometimes a line of cars builds up behind me :D. just go slowly and at an angle at steep driveways and speed bumps and you should be fine.

havabooz.......Yes, they are pretty easy to put on. I expect the tail light overlays to be a bit harder because of the curve in the lens.

The sidemarkers and rear bumper ones are very easy and the headlight overlays are easy as well.

Since the back of the overlays have some adhesive, I suggest using soap and water on all the overlays. This gives you the chance to slide them into the right position and make any needed adjustments. Then you push out all the bubbles and excess water before you seal down the edges. Once that is done, the adhesive backing takes over and they are securely attached to the lens.

Wedge - good luck getting the tail light overlays on, it's tuff as hell. I got the same headlight and bumper overlays you got and they went on super easy, so I figured the tail light wouldn't be so bad. Wrong. After a few hours of messing with them I just said f it and ripped them off. I hope you have better luck than I did.

Thanks for the heads up shaneotool. I will try my best and let you know my results. I think they are in two pieces per tail light. Did you have trouble with the whole thing or just the part that went on the curvy part of the lens?

The top part goes on easy - that bottom part is a pain. I could not get it to line up with the top part and the edges of the housing. And when I got it close to being lined up correctly, I could not get the waves and bunching out of the overlay. I know it can be done, but it is difficult to make it look good.

Thanks shaneotool......Maybe the trick is to keep them heated up while you put them on. I may use a hairdryer of something while I put them on. I'll have to get my wife to hold the hairdryer.......don't think I could put them on one handed.....lol

Pics look great man;). I will post some install tips on the lower taillight piece. Yes, it can be done. I've done it and quite a few other people have already done it. See my Smoke Taillight Thread. Joust 75 has some good install tips on the lower pieces.

Why 2 pieces instead of 1? Just for that reason. I've tried several times with a 1 piece kit. Extremely difficult because of all the curves and angles. One thing for sure, is you want to install these on a sunny warm day or with the aide of a hairdryer, which makes the vinyl much more pliable and forgiving.

(1) Re: Shaneotool - Might not it be better to apply the bottom tailight piece first, then apply the easier top piece, to do the lining up?

(2) Checked out your web page and am interested in buying a set, i.e., "full" headlights (not the partial eyebrow), tailights, and rear bumper lamps, all in smoke (I already have the smoked front reflectors, though I'd guess that yours would install easier than mine did, requiring bumper removal). Any discount for a set vs individual pieces?

I have a couple of other questions:

(3) Is there any way to make them reusable, e.g., careful removal with hair dryer, and spraying on new adhesive? I would like to put them on for car shows, then remove for night driving.
It not, then do you offer any kind of discount for multiple sets, say 3 at a time?

(4) Is the full headlight overlay also 2 pieces / headlight?

1. I installed mine with the larger piece first. The bottom is the trickiest due to all the curves and bends. I don't think it matters, but it'd be interesting to find out. I suggest warm weather and or a blow dryer to help make the vinyl more pliable.

3.I have not attempted to reuse them. I think it's imposible because once you start peeling them off, the vinyl gets stretched and distorted. Lights are fine at night:).
