Switchblade Key

I'm sure this thread has been made numerous times but I'm looking at getting a replacement key and saw a thread about a switchblade key. I found a complete key on eBay for cheap and was wondering if people have tried buying one like this on eBay, run through the install process and had the dealer program the key for them.

All I can tell you is that my wife's Acura TL-S came with a key like that, and I hate it. It's maybe 3X as heavy as my Z key (even with the separate remote) and much more bulky, too. Nothing but a pain in the ass to carry around.

I drove an Audi for a few years and loved the convenience. I have read for these that they won't hold their programming and will have to be reprogrammed constantly.

They also can break if you turn it too quickly or the lock is too tight

That would make separating key from remote rather difficult.

That makeshift eBay bs will never last.

I have a Keyport Slide 2.0

Has 6 spaces for keys (mine has my car key, car key chip, 2 house keys, padlock key, and lockbox key)

Just a better option.

Wow! I would even be willing to hook a FOB to such a great device.

pyshin... Thanks for posting such useful info. --Spike

No problem, Spike.

Been a huge support of Keyport since their first Kickstarter campaign.. They're a small company in Las Vegas with great customer service

This is my personal Slide 2.0

Very cool, never seen that before.

Personally I prefer as slim a key as possible so that wouldn't work for be but it's still pretty cool

The device Pyshin posted is awesome. their quality is great and the customer service even better. For storing multiple keys on a key ring there is no better option in my opinion.

for myself I can't stand having keys. I use keyless entry on my house, shop, garage, etc and for my Z I converted on of the Audi style flip keys so my key and fob are all one unit. I ordered off Amazon and have not had a single problem with it in the last year.
