New tail lights not plug & play

I recently bought a set of hawk eyes LED tail lights to replace a broken one on my 05 touring roadster. The description said 03-06 and was compatible, however the female connectors in the car cannot receive the 4-prong male from the new light. Any suggestions? I have the tools and ability to splice the wires if need be.

Bump. Anybody know what to do here?

I never heard of those lights. Where did you buy them? Possibly the seller could help with advice on installation.

^ Ebay special. I wouldn't run any aftermarket led tails on the 350z. Documented instances of causing power loss and ecu issues.

It looks like the male plug on the new light actually plugs into the bulb SOCKET from the old lights..

In other words, you need to remove the harness from your old lights and use that. (remove the bulb obviously)

It'll go like this:

Car -> old harnesss -> new light

Don't do it... Seriously. Follow Sparco's advice and re-sell that POS. Then get OEM 06+ tail lights. The weird electronic issues are well documented.

Here's a write-up on a 350z tail light upgrade that should give you some help. It's not exactly what you're trying to do, but will give you some ideas:

Check out this picture from that post:

The bulb is connected to an intermediary connector that goes between the housing and tail light. That's the one that you need to use to connect your new tail lights to the original wiring.
