Tinting taillights on my 08 nismo?
Thinking about doing a light tint on my taillights, I don't want it where it blends in with my car (car is black), i just want them kinda grey i guess....anyone have good brands/what I should get? Also, if anyone know, is it illegal in TN to do this? I heard from some people that they have gotten pulled over for tints and smoked out lights. Thanks guys :D

That looks nice Travlee! I am looking for something maybe a tad bit darker than the color in your picture though...

Also what method did you do to make your door handles black? Paint?

I used VHT Nite Shade (transparent black paint in a rattle can) from autozone or where ever. YOU control how dark they get by dusting a light base coat on, then doing 1-5 layers MAX. I had 3 layers which gave my lights a "blood red" look. Then while the final coat was drying before I put on the clear (critical to make them look factory dark and not ricey imo) I came back to find a fly doing the backstroke in my wet paint. I had to put on 2 more coats to cover the "fly angel" he made. These were too dark imo, but I still liked em and never caught chit from CALIFORNIA popo. From what I have heard you can just use GooGone or paint thinner to take it off too, but I never did that.
My buddy got pulled over in his black Z for this and a loud exhaust so I think anything that makes your Z stick out would be pushing it. But, boys will be boys. :icon38: |
that is a little dark, i know in texas if they are too dark and you get rear ended they can find you at fault for it. i tried the vht and i could never get that stuff even

I had no trouble with the VHT.... putting light coats was the key imo |
