Actually expected to see my thread merge into this one. Didnt really see any info on "how to" so I made a separate thread for more attention.

keepin' forums clean

Real carbon fiber hoods are made with dry carbon and all layers being carbon with proper resin:composite ratio. Those are generally in the 2k+ price range. I've only seen a couple of members on here with true dry carbon pieces in the last 10 years.

thanks for all the info sparco...seriously helpful, even with all the searching around Iv done, along with talking with shops. Yeah, even with all that money I threw away at my 350z in 2009 I didnt go with a dry carbon, you definitely want purpose when dropping all that cash for one.

My thought as of last night is I will wet sand and prime it. Now Im just waiting to hear back from some shops to see if they will actually give me a little help with the type of primer I should use and if I can actually do it myself with proper tools.

Read a bit on spraying, painting and rattle canning primer methods. Obviously spraying would be my best bet, its just a matter of tool cost and if it would just be cheaper to get a shop to wet sand and prime it.

Was the kit already painted before you wrapped it?

DIY You'll need:
air compressor and all accessories
spray gun with 2mm tip (Harbor Freight has great cheap ones)
you can use Speed Prime or the better stuff 2 part epoxy primer
sand paper
masking paper and tape
respirator
Cost ~ $700-1000.

**I would not use rattle can. Doesn't adhere as well as the autobody stuff.

My car is OEM PPW under the wrap. But the white wrap puts PPW to shame. And our cars are definitely similar! Great minds think alike?

As dboyz already gave, but here are a couple more. None of these other pictures have the wrap, but I can get more wrap pictures in the next couple days because I plan to get most of it done tonight

your the best...more info, thanks for taking the time to give me all that

looks like it will run me $500-1000 to fully prep for vinyl going by a couple shops. Spoke with my complex as well today and they said if they see me doing anything like painting in my garage they will revoke my garage rental...seems like things are working out to where I have no choice.

Ok, you guys have completely convince me to start wrapping everything I own. I will be wrapping my home in the near future, pics up soon.

On the real... I think I'll start my first project on my motorcycle, 2006 Honda CBR. Difficult task for my first wrap, I know.

For the wrappers here, I've got a few small dings from rock chips, tire chunks and in general track debris on the hood and rear quarter panel. If I fill, sand and then prime the dings before I wrap it, will the vinyl adhere right or is there more to it?

My vinyl is adhering very well to my hatch, which is mostly just coated in primer. The only you have to watch with the primer is that you sand out all of the little bumps. I did not do that step and it looks like there is dirt under the vinyl

Trav has a valid point...

But if you're asking for opinions I would say yes wrap it. Only reason is because Ive never liked the yellow on the z33 body
