I can't seem to find the part number for the blank aluminum panel on the left side of the steering wheel. Anyone has a part number? Is this even available new?

Mine has the clear coat coming off.

on that same topic, the letters on my cruise control are coming off too, would you buy a new one or do you have a slick way to re-do the words (ACCEL/RES, COAST/SET, ON.OFF, CANCEL)?

If I figured a slick way to do the above I might get a painter to spray clear coat on both panels with a satin finish rather than gloss.

My left silver piece is damaged as well. It is not serviced separately from the steering wheel. See here: http://www.courtesyparts.com/350z-pa...5_815_817.html
However, if you have cruise, the right side is.

Id repaint it personally.

That is what I surmised. I was going to buy some clear printable labels and re-print the words then cover them with real two part automotive clear coat in satin...or it might just be easier to buy a new cruise control panel. GRR.

You have to remove the steering wheel to disconnect the trim panel. Because the back end of the clock spring went to the now-removed Bose garbage in the back of my car, I purchased a new pair of steering wheel switches. The cruise control is the same, but the stereo controls are from a 2006 and don't have the Bluetooth phone buttons on them. I re-wired the connections behind the clock spring so that they go directly to an aftermarket remote controller for my Pioneer headunit. I'm putting everything in this weekend. Wish me luck.

As for the silver paint wearing off, I'd just cover it with some carbon fiber vinyl or paint it. Again, taking the steering wheel off is a bit of a pain, but if you try to pop the parts off, you're going to break clips and risk having the panel not go back on properly.
