I MAY have gone a bit overboard though.... lol....

The Stardast kit is one of the best fitting aftermarket fiberglass parts I've ever seen. On a 350Z with stock bumpers I'm confident you could seriously just 'scuff and shoot' it and not need to do any kind of major body work.

I just like to change everything lol

I guess you just wont believe me unless I shove one of the wheel flares up your ass... :icon38: ......JK

I wanted to thank everyone for their help. I didn't decide to go with any ONE persons opinion, but the sugestions led me to where I want to be for now.

I'll post some new pics when the next parts shipment comes in.

.....BTW, I have an unused widebody kit for sale if anyone is interested... PM me.

Ok, its been a while, though I'd share where we are now. Called Extreme Dimensions and got the Nismo 2 front, Coutoure Side Skirts, and AMS-GT rear (I like it)

This was a custom hood from Tampa. The guy takes 350z hoods and customizes them. As far as I know, no two are alike. Rather than pay shipping he was nice enough to deliver it to our hotel room at Walt Disney World, and we brought it home in one of the trucks carrying instruments for my sons Marching Band.

We are going with a yellow and black paint scheme. Roof, Nismo spoiler, front lip, canards, and side skirts (really an add-on over the existing) all in black.

I decided to bring some of the yellow inside. I'll be installing these tomorrow, I'll add pics after.

This one has nothing to do with Nissan Z's, just thought I'd show the other kind of Z we got my son for his 16th B-Day.

looks like it is coming together nicely

Interior might be a little tacky, but glad to see someone else doing garage painting and not giving a fk.

If you really want a high gloss job. Get yourself an orbital 2000 grit paper and wet sand it. Then buff with the orbital using a CarPro 2000 grit pad and meguirs(sp?) ultimate polish. It's amazing what this stuff does.

Alternatively you can use the CarPro 2000 pad with an actual polisher(much harder to use then the orbital because you can burn and it just man handles you) and you won't have to wet sand.

I'm glad you like your new body kit! Coming out nice, agreed with the other members. My dad got me an 85 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Bro-Ham

Dekker001 04-05-2016 06:21 PM

The guy you see spraying in the pics is my Father-in-law. He's been spraying custom cars for 45 years. It's not really just a garage. When he "retired" he just moved all the stuff he wanted to keep into a shop he has purpose built at home. We've kinda turned this project into a demo for advertising, so he is going all out.

Get some new headlights while your doing all this work

Dekker001 04-08-2016 05:00 PM

Those were already upgraded to the Zenons by a previous owner. Once everything is in place I will buff them out and they'll look brand new. I do them every 6 months since I have not found a decent UV protectant. DSport even did a huge write-up and review of almost 30 of them, and I didn't like the downsides to any of them.

I don't mind the work, taping them off and polishing both takes me about 20 mins.

I don't think it's just the work he's referring to. The early model(03-05) headlights are not "real" projector headlights. They're a hybrid projector/reflector style headlights. So they don't have the same quality of light spread as the later model(06+).

Not only do the later model offer better night visibility they also are regarded as better looking. While the aesthetics are a personal choice the night visibility improvement is quite literally night and day difference.

The upgrade is a bit pricy with OEM headlights running around $1200 for the set. The fact that OEM price is so costly people often prefer to go with the DEPO OE style headlights which are about half the price.

I personally plan on getting a set from http://zledslights.com/ and get a custom set of headlights. I believe the owner has an account on the forums, however I don't know his username.

Whatever you chose I wish you the best with your build.

My understanding is that there are only two kind of lights for this, one with ballast and one without, is there a third you are talking about?

The ballast is just for HID bulbs. I'm referring to the actual light housing. The housing used in the 2003-2005 350z's is a projector/reflector hybrid, while the 2006+ model is a pure projector. The 2006+ model also has a bigger lense to output more light, better light spread, and most people prefer the look. Here's a photo of the two styles.
