80 cent suede shift boot

Took about 45 minutes start to finish, probably 20 if you have any idea how sewing works. Bought $20 in supplies from Jo Ann fabrics (I have enough to make about a dozen more from that)

It's not awesome or perfect but hey I did it!

Jo-ann has some nice vinyl there too. I've used them a bunch to fix door panels

Yeah, I don't really like vinyl though. I'm thinking about messing with the door panels though.

I've got an Alcantara boot for my handbrake, too.

Yeah I don't know how to make that kind of seam lol, I just stitched them together :dunno:

I've been looking for a good handbrake handle for weeks and I can't find anything that isn't NRG or probably fake. It seems nobody makes real handles anymore, momo and sparcos sites are both dead.

dcains 07-22-2016 06:57 AM

That handle is made by Isotta, and I bought it on eBay several years ago. The leather matches the grain of the console perfectly, and there's elastic to mate with the handle.

Bought both boots on eBay from a place in the UK called "the_tuning_shop_team". $30 shipped in about a week, and real Alcantara, not fabric. They can custom-make anything you like.

Try this place for handbrake handles:

Already checked that one out, nothing there matches my interior. Brian M had posted awhile ago recommending them.

I'm afraid I'll have to resort to...gasps...NRG if NARDI doesn't get back to me soon on a quote of their pure aluminum handle.

Basically I don't want polished or ss. I want only black, white or blue.

the leather on the Isotta will peel off - the seam is on the bottom, and you could replace it with whatever color you want. I do recall other colors, too, but not sure about white - maybe red and blue.

EDIT: Just Googled this one:

It's not the boot, I'll be making my own boot or having RLG do it. It's the handle itself.

I'm waiting on a US distributor to contact me back about this:

http://www.nardi-personal.com/index....id=341&lang=en

EDIT - to clarify I don't want stainless steal or brushed aluminum, they clash with the interior something fierce, especially mine.

dcains 07-22-2016 07:09 AM

Mine came with no boot, and I don't recall if there was an option for the boot, or not. It was maybe $50.

I emailed Nardi just a few weeks ago about a missing rubber bushing for the shift knob on my old BMW 635. They got back to me right away, and sent me to Crowders as their US distributor.

Unicus 07-22-2016 07:12 AM

Well I guess I'll just talk to crowders, thanks.

dcains 07-22-2016 07:14 AM

I've bought several things from them over the years and they're good to deal with, and they also sell through Amazon.

Unicus 07-22-2016 07:16 AM

Yeah. I'm just trying to get quality while also meeting my show interior needs.

HK-800MB is the NRG handle I'll go with if this doesn't pan out.

Unicus 07-22-2016 10:51 AM

Damn the handbrake turned out amazing I'm proud of myself

My mom came by the house. She has a sewing machine. Guess who is done for the day?

CK_32 07-22-2016 02:24 PM

Not bad at all!

Well until that last pic but still it look(ed) good hahah

mr. sparco 07-22-2016 02:39 PM

I did the same back in the days, made a dash mat as well. The caveat is that the fabric fades rather quickly. Had to redo everything in automotive grade suede, its also 10 times more expensive but you can tell the quality difference right off the bat.

Unicus 07-22-2016 02:45 PM

I'm sure, and I'll just be getting a full rlg steering wheel, boots and armrest here after awhile. Just wanted a little project:) finished the handbrake boot just now, looks alright!
