$6 radiator diversion plate
Im 19 with tuition bills, so I can't really afford to fork over $60 for a steel plate. I try to save money where I can so I decided to give making my own radiator diversion plate a go.
I found this $6 36" piece of ducting at home depot.
I went home and made a rough template out of cardboard of a basic shape of the diversion plate.
Im not an HVAC guy so i don't really know the best way to cut sheet metal, so i just sat around with some tin snips and carefully cut out the basic outline.
After trial and error and a lot of measuring, I eventually had the plate cut out. I used a rattail file and sandpaper to clean up the edges. I don't remember the drill bit size but I drilled holes in the OEM location where the bumper clips snap into the rad support. I used these to hold the plate in place.
Finished
ALSO, idk how forums work lol so hopefully I'm doing this right...

Nice! I felt stupid after buying one for $70 and realizing just how simple it is. In fact mine didn't fit great so I had to trim with a Dremel.
FYI what front bumper is that?

Nice work!!
Care to build me one and I'll buy it or sell me your cardboard template? We need one for our road racer.
You won't need to bend the lip where the diversion plate meets the radiator support....we have a sheet metal bending brake, so we can easily put that bend in once we get the flat diversion plate from you.
