Adding Heat to Seats
 

I want to add heat to my seats. I can get kits to do it but what I really need is a kit with 3 heating elements, butt, low back, and upper back for an injury. Does anyone know of a kit with three elements. Thanks.

Call me lazy, but this project will be a PITA. Running wiring, adding switches, completely removing upholstery and mb seats.
There are cushions with heaters available from BrookStone or Sharper Image that you can use in the car, recliner etc.

I know it's not the answer you want, just a thought. I would avoid salvage yard seats as the elements have a finite lifespan, much like a hair dryer. Gl.

I have been disappointed when adding an internal (under the upholstery) seat heater. I did this with an old Montero when replacing the car’s seats and more recently when I had the seats in my 2003 350 recovered (the bolsters had worn through).

In both cases the heaters didn’t produce enough heat. I think the manufacturers reduce the output in these “internal” models because the environment where the heaters are placed is unknown. A fire is possible if there is too much “insulation” and the heaters get really hot.

The type of heater jhc mentions is going to provide better heat. The manufacturer can test the heater with the cover they use assuring they are compatible and safe.
