Pinnacleliquid's REAL aluminum dash!

Well, here it is. I waited for a few months until someone steped up to the task. It wasn't easy. Rich at Elegantwooddesign.com, used his process of spraying a metal powder paste at the OEM plastic peices to get the aluminum finish, and the fitment of factory peices. They sand down the allready THIN plastic finish, coat it with a few coats of different metals and alloys to get the right color and finish. Blast it down, spray, blast it down, polish, brush ect. That makes it sound easy. It took all the guys at Rich's shop a week to finish my dash alone, since there are so many do-overs/sand-throughs ect. Well, heres the result. I love it. The only two caviets....the instalers at my dealer did a great job, but they nicked the sides and left some marks. I will try to polish/brush those out. Also, this dash is real metal, and DOES smudge, and requires alot o maitenance to keep it looking perfect. But its worth it for me.
BTW, I wouldn't ask Rich for one, since he told me all the work thats involved, he really isn't looking forward to making another one. I fronted $1000 for mine, andi think its worth it, but it is ALOT of dough. Here are my shitty pics for tonight. Ill try to get more up when the car is clean. |

Yes, the armrests are aluminum as well. And the kit looks SICK with my Nissan JDM Amber Interior Illumination.
that looks a lot better than the pics that they sent me via email.... all i can say is great job! :icon11:

That is awesome!! Looks nice.
That is nice!!! Be careful on sunny days that you don't burn yourself :)
that is sick! .. i thought i saw on his website that they are going to start doing this type of dash kit?
Yes, they are starting to do this process alot more since its quite new (i beleive). He jsut doesn't want to do another 350z dash like this, because the peices are small and brittle, and this coating process requires alot of elbow grease to work the finish into visual shape. My finish is by no means perfect, and there is a blotchyness/dry streaks to it unpon slocer inspection. But the flaws look like real metal flaws (since it is metal) and deosnt look cheap. So im fine with it.

Very nice!
verrrry nice. pricetag is insane; but no doubt a steal for the amount of work it took.
Im sure theyll get better and better at it and learn better ways to do it so it takes less time. |
That's a clean job. Nice work!
Rich does some pretty incredible work!!!
