I'm curious if anyone has powdercoated their base/enthusiast wheels black? Might be interested in that.

ttsupra94 Mar 10, 2004 05:21 AM

I was thinking about that same thing Paint. Any idea on price?

I did a quick photoshop of the rims on my car, I don't like the way it turned out, don't know how dark the actual powdercoating would be/look.

If you could get them dark like bluebatmobile's 5 stars that would be better. My photoshop skills are sucky though.

i dont know... your wheels in black looks like hub-wheels. sort of...

i think the gold looks too bright.. maybe lil darker

If you want your wheels powdercoated that dark grey color just don't wash the brake dust off your wheels for approx. 2 weeks :D

lolz I know, but I don't want them grey, black would be great, couldn't make them black with my photoshop skills being what they are without having the opacity set to 100 percent. Agreed grey looks like crap.

Someone on here just posted their Gunmetal powdercoated 18" performance wheels. do a search for gunmetal stock wheels or something... just posted yesterday, or the day before I beleive.

Strife350z Mar 10, 2004 02:59 PM

a glossy gunmetal would be nice i think... like the ones done by performance nissan

aaaaa Mar 10, 2004 05:26 PM

hey!!!
today i heard this.........
i went some powdercoating place and they told me that if i wanna do powdercoating on my rims....they will charge me additional 100$
BECAUSE WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR..I GOT CHROMED OEM 18"RIMS
THEY NEED TO WIPED THE CHROME OFF AND THEN POWDER COATED.
is this right??? i thought it is all same price even though i have chromed finished rims...

spdu4ia Mar 10, 2004 05:57 PM

they aren't going to "wipe the chrome off" they have to sandblast it so i can see it costing more yes.

Reggi914 Mar 10, 2004 06:06 PM

I think that a gunmetal would also look great on a White Z.

scubasteve Mar 11, 2004 04:56 PM

they have to blast the wheels anyway. I could understand a higher price if it actually takes more effort than usual to remove the chrome. Hopefully they didn't tell you that blasting, whether they sandblast or beadblast, is an out of the ordinary process. Blasting is required even if they were factory finish. Check elsewhere at other shops to see what they say.
