Excuse my ignorance, but what is the purpose of these?

Helps control the flow of air under your car at high speeds.

Two pieces you will need....

-01553-09321 clips... a few....

Purpose? Make the car more slippery at high speeds and the
third piece in the Track model aero kit..

Results? well... the car feels slightly more stable at speed, or
could be just me.....

One side benefit is that my exhaust is better protected from rear
wheel debris, the gaps are nicely filled in behind rear wheels...:D

I get the same from two Type R stickers for only $10 ;)

I installed them on my Z a while back and like them. The only thing I didn't like was the stickers all over them and they don't come off easily.

I figure Nissan wouldn't have bothered with the production cost and installation of them on the Track model if they didn't make a difference. They are barely visible and wouldn't help sales at the dealership.
