Niece piece! What about a version that does not cover the the opening to the intake box?

It is a great product - quality CF ! But what about a version that DOES cover teh air intake 'hole' ? This was discussed in another thread already. I fabrictaed a piece to close it off but a full size plate would be nice.

its sposed to do that, guides the air through the path it was already taking from the bumper inlet to the intake. but it doesnt want to let it get any higher and leak into the engine bay, its trying to force the air that enters the bumper to go through the radiator or into the intake, not over into the engine.

Interetsing. I don't understand how the smaller apature this creates would do that but I'm no expert. For me, having a CAI with the filter on the floor of the car it made sense that the 'old' intake 'hole' was completely covered. There is another thread out today talking about how this was designed for Japanese model as oposed to US and I thought that was curious as I could'nt see the Japanese model having a diferent size intake opening.

autotecknic, how about one for the US model that covers the entire intake area instead of the japan model that you have in your pic which only partially covers the intake area? see thread

See ares comment above that it should be like that for US spec. Interesting.

I e-mailed you guys about this plate, but never heard back. Talked to somebody on AIM "autotecknic", said he was going to talk to his manager, and never heard back...

I note from Randall Patters' picture that he had to alter the configuration of the cutout for the engine latch in the area closest to the engine. Has the configuration of the latch cutout been altered to prevent the hood from striking the CF?

Randall Patters May 5, 2004 08:55 PM

I had to make the adjustments to open the hood and I experienced a little rubbing in the area closest to the engine caused by the hood. I used my drimell tool and touched it up with some clear coat. There is no rubbing or marks from the hood now. I really like this finisher.
