Who's down for a 1 Piece Smoke Taillight Overlay?

Well, I decided to go ahead and tackle a 1 Piece Smoke Overlay for my taillights. It was tough getting the template down because of the curvature of the back end of the taillight, but I was able to nail it:icon6: . This is not an easy Overlay to apply, that's why I origionally did a 2 Piece Kit so people would have much trouble. I will offer it as an option depending on interest from you guys. I will post pics in a few days;).

I didn't realize they were 2 pieces. Can you notice when on?
Where's the split?

Dragonstyle Jun 28, 2004 12:42 AM

Can't wait to see the pics...

The seam is hardly visible. I also designed it to match up where the bumper meets the rear:) :

sounds like a good idea..but consider this...

over a year ago (before your products were available) i bought a tinted sheet from lamin-x ... at that time they also didnt have precut kits for the z...

but i managed to cut out pieces for the rear turn signals and they came out great

my point is they have a very thick and strechy material that would even make it easy to streach a 1 piece overlay over the headlight or taillight without soap water or a heat gun....it was as thick as a clear-bra...problem is they are VERY dark (although light shines through)...if you could get your hands on something that stretchy but not so dark that would be perfect

pimp1911 Jun 28, 2004 05:27 AM

Would you suggest starting from the rear of the tail light and work forward to clear the curvature.

havabooz Jun 28, 2004 05:49 AM

put it this way....if you are good enough to get the 1 piece overlay on and make it meet your approval

then you sure as hell should be able to get the 2-piece one on without having a noticable "cut"

i was suggesting the stretchy type material because i even had a tough time putting the 2-piece on...i didnt have ideal weather conditions though so it was kinda my fault

whats the point of tinting your safety lights?
I seriously dont get it, I hope you guys don't have dual wipper blades from pepboys.

I've seen ther laminex ones, and they are pretty dark, almost black. You can't really see the reflectors, and cops will get you if the reflectors aren't visible from a certain distance.

As far as stretchability goes, the Vinyl I use does stretch quite a bit. That's why I suggest using a hair dryer in my instructions because it does make the vinyl much more pliable and easy to work with;).

You don't need to buy a heat gun. I use a hair dryer:). Email me for price;).

HA - me too!

I really need to get those brake lights tinted - everything else on the car is dark or tinted - makes those big red spots stick out like a sore thumb.

At least with one piece I won't have to worry about getting the seems to line up.

Hey Bat, I'm definately interested, but like some of the other members, I'm cautious about a 2-piece overlay. Can you post a closer zoomed up pic of the 2 separate pieces? Any chance of getting a one piece overlay

Dude - read the first post - he's making a 1 piece overlay.

If you ordered my zt1 Smoke Taillight Kit before, and are interested in the 1 piece kit, I will offer you the 2nd kit at discount;).
