Boost gauge's....

The boost gauges Ive seen go up to 30PSI..... if im only running 5PSI wouldnt I be better off with a guage that reads in my boost range... for accuracy...

Sharif@Forged Apr 9, 2005 07:20 PM

I good boost guage will be just as accurate. Now technically, a gauge with a tighter spectrum can be more accurate, but in practicle terms, they are all very accurate. The other problem is that just about every boost guage I have seen is at least 2.0 BAR...or 30psi. I think I have seen one gauge that read to 20psi. But Defi, Greddy, Autometer Nexus...all go up to 30psi.

Ive decided to just get the 30 and go with a A/F that has a warning....

I had a 20psi autometer on my Honda, but that was like 9 years ago, maybe they don't make it anymore.

It also has a warn and peak function...

Looks like those domestic folks at Autometer have what you need! :D

I was looking at that autometer cf guage as well. The only problem is it's carbon fiber (not good), and it's a bit pricey at close to $200.

I'd like to see what it looks like lit at night. I'm trying to find something that at least resembles the AEM AFR, and this doesn't look like it will.

Well they have other styles for the same gauge. Also you can ourchase lens covers for the backlight to change the color at night,,,]

Heres some others....

Autometer makes a gauge that goes to 20psi I just installed it with my TT.Also it's as close as your going to get to match AEM Wideband. You are looking for a autometer sport comp boost gauge 30/20.Good luck finding one.My gauge is black face.

You're right. They make part # ATM-3376, which is a Sport Comp series boost gauge with the same readout/features (15psi) as the above CF series gauge. It has a black face, amber needle, white lettering, and a silver bezel.

This might be a little off base but i am really looking into getting the turbonetics ST kit and i was just wondering what the boost guage connects to to receive the reading. Also does anyone know of a good write up or is willing to break down parts of a turbo system to better explain how and what everything does and the purpose of needing such things. i.e. waste gate, b.o.v. Sorry if this sounds ignorant i am really a rookie when it comes to boost! :o

The boost gauge connects to the vacuum line signal from the turbo/bov/manifold... That being said if you are looking to learn how a turbo system works I would highly recommend purchasing the book Maximum Boost by Corkey Bell. It will answer any questions you have regarding turbocharging.

By the way. I found a pic of the gauge I'm talking about. I'm DEFINITELY getting this one.
