Vortech w/ 2.87" pulley and RC 550's

I am moving to this setup in about 2 months. Check my sig for current setup. I am wondering where I will endup and I'm sure this will be pushing the limits with still stock internals. I know a few of the members here are running similar setups - can you all post your numbers? I'm interested to see where you are. I know someone at AAM without cams installed the 2.87 pulley and dynoed at like 448rwhp, pretty damn scary if you ask me. Also, has anyone sent in there vortech blower to be upgraded to spin faster??

Im upgrading my blower to a T trim . I havent decided on what pulley set up Im going to use . I had the 2.87 pulley on with a 34 tooth jackshaft cog pulley on . I had 5psi at 4000rpm and 11psi at 5800rpm . I didnt go any further becuase I ended up bloowing a seal in the blower and getting oil in my plenum and intercooler . I was over spinning the blower to 60,000rpm or close and its only meant to go to 50,000rpm . So we will see what I end up with . I dyno on a Mustang dyno , so numbers will be 10 to 12 % lower than what I would get on a dynojet

booger... I know I should know this already, but have you done any bottom end work?

Booger - is going to the 2.87 going to over spin the blower? - or is the 34 tooth jackshaft cog pulley the reason why?

yes fully built bottom, get that thing back up boog.

I had the 34 tooth made for me . I dont suggest any one trying it that hasnt built the bottom end . The 2.87 serp pulley will spin the blower at 56,000rpm at 6800rpm . So yes you are going over what Vortech suggests , but I think they under rate them to some dergree . They still have the blower and said it would be ...10 to 15 working days ....the first time I talk to them . Then it was , ...it should go out Friday . Then a week after that it was....we are waiting on parts . So who knows when I'll get it back

Boog do you have a cost for the full build up, including the vortech revamp?

booger Apr 24, 2005 03:50 PM

I hate to even think about it . Short block , fuel system . 550 injector , cams , labor , SC rebuild and upgrade ,oil pan spacer , and Im sure I forgot some things....sorry I dont want to add it up

Booger -

How much is it $$$ to upgrade the blower...do you send it in , they re-work it, and send back....also, what are the limits of the intercooler. the intercooler I heard is not designed to handle over 11psi. Let me know.

Its a $1000.00 to rebuild and upgrade the blower . $ 300.00 for rebuild alone . The intercooler I dont know about . I would amagine at some point it will not cool the intake as good . I wouldnt suggest any one that hasnt build the bottom end up to upgrade the blower .
