Any Problems with Power Enterprise's Twin Turbo Kit?
Seems like everyone is getting APS, Greddy or Turbonetics, but I've never seen one post of someone with a Power Enterprise Kit, any reason why this is? It seems like at stock boost of 7.3psi the kit puts down as much power as APS's twin turbo kit that's at 10-11 psi. Is it because it's not as complete of a kit, and costs about the same as an APS kit and would be the most expensive kit out there after install to purchase the parts necessary to make the kit complete?

PM Rayden2001. He has the PE. I think Gurgen still does also.

I got a kit installed. Rocks. Stock boost is around 4.8. Don't let the list price scare you, it is available at a discount like anything. At stock boost I didn't need any tuning or add ons to the ecu so there is much less to go wrong. Only thing I added was a HKS SSQV bov. Love the kit so far.

If you still need opinions, PM me.

Gurgen's the guy to PM about issues with the G35 kit.
and i an PM you about what they did to me when i prototyped it... or you can do a search... my production kit has been flawless... |

Hi,
Yes, definitely get the newer version with the cast manifolds, which is also significanty cheaper. All the problems that I have had with the kit, have been SS manifold related, the rest of hte probelms.... aebs sleeves. I am pretty sure that hte kit doesn't get as much press because it is very highly priced, only in terms of the 'offical' retail price, which none of us gearheads pay anyway. Another thing was the SS manifolds, which got kind of a bad rep, though currently that's a non-issue. The kit is incredibly nice, and has the most expensive/highest quality components, including the superb IHI turbos, which are sized perfectly for our engine (do a search on the compression maps that I posted a while back), and ARC intercooler (which many will say is the best brand money can buy). The rest is really piping, etc, nothign that you can't fairly easily moodify if you wanted. The CONS. Lack of a engine management solution. Regardless of what they (PE) say, you do need to add this to the system, whether it's in a form of a simple TS reflash, or an eManage Ultimate. THe former is sufficient for stock engine boost levels (7-8 psi max), but anything over that saturates the MAF sensor, and necessitates the use of a far more complex setup, MAP-tuning or MAF-range extending solution (i.e. eManage Ultimate, HKS Fcon Vpro, etc.) One little thing that you are going to need to do, regardless on what car this goes, is to purchase phunk's FPR correction kit and apply it to your setup. Subjectively, the car is very responsive, and in 2nd gear and above there is an utter lack of turbo lag... Anyway...let us know if you need more info. HTH |
Still not running an engine management solution, over 10K road miles (daily driver), haven't got phunk's FPR correction kit either. I have the SS manifolds, and have had zero problems. I contacted Technosquare when I had the kit installed, they said DO NOT REFLASH unless I up the boost to 8 psi. As they make money from the reflash, and make nothing if I don't, I saw the advice as valid. If and when I up the boost, I will get a reflash or perhaps the UTEC if it proves a viable solution. I have had none of the common problems seen with APS setups that I have read about here. Just my opinion based on limited knowledge, but it seems to me that once you go to the >5 psi boost area, you must add engine management, when you add engine management, you add more possibilities for problems, more dependence on the tuner, and more chance of any weak point in your OEM drivetrain to show up. I also asked PE about getting the cast manifolds, and, take it for what it is worth, they told me that the people who brought thier cars by with cracked manifolds were driving on bald tires etc, from doing hole shots etc. So I assume that, if you beat on them enough, they could crack. I am not known for going slow, but mine are fine. I did add a engine dampner before the installation, just to minimize engine movement, as a precaution. I do know that if/when I up the boost, I will not use a greddy engine management product, I personally am not impressed. Reputation online and locally is poor quality control. Perhaps it is caused by mishookups, improper tuning, etc, (i.e. the user) but I would not take the chance.
Just my opinions and experience, your mileage may vary. |
