Who says Vortech can't make big power - Part 2
On my everlasting quest to keep pace with the turbo cars, I finally took the big step and built a low compression engine. After breaking the engine in, the car was finally dynoed and it made 475rwhp and 378tq at stock redline. (mods are listed in sig)
Tuning done by Rob & Vince at Z Car Garage in San Jose, Ca. We plan to raise the rev limiter and possibly find a way to run a smaller pulley or a bigger blower in the future. The A/F is still a little rich, so more power is definitely attainable. I just wanted to share for all those folks with Vortechs. Dyno chart @ post #14 -Lou |
WOW!! That is some good powa!!

Of course this thread is worthless without a dyno sheet, so if someone can host, please send me your email. -Lou |
also, what type of dyno? DynoJet, DynaPack, Mustang Dyno, Dyno Dynamics?
|
I really dont understand this. Booger has been screwing with his Vortech for DAYS now and his #'s are
Vortech T-trim 13.5psi 400whp & 319trq { mustang dyno } add what you want for Dynojet numbers I dont get it! |
other option is to just use race gas and go nuts with pushing the timing/boost
|
Money spent... promised I wouldn't repeat it and it was a dynojet
|
With the low compression engine we didn't have to pull that much timing and it was tuned on 91 octane. I was shocked at the numbers myself. Can anyone host the dyno sheet?
I don't understand booger's car either. I am only making 10psi with the test pipes. I was making about 11.5 with the stock cats before we built the engine. I guess it is all in the tune. |
I can host it, gixxer2nv@hotmail.com

Hey Lou,
Send it my way. I'll host it for you ;). Edit: Oops...guess someone beat me to it. |
Email sent to G352NV

Thanks anyway James!

Thanks for posting the dyno!

Hey Lou, Nice seeing you again...My friend was impressed and I do believe sold on the vortech now. Also introduced him to the "man". Since he's here in Salinas, now he's got a point of contact and will be talking the talk with the shop.

Sounds good Warren. Let me know when you get the APS installed.
|
You got it. the two gauges, and the clutch to go.
|
Awsome! I love my Vortech!

If that a/f graph is anywhere close to correct that is a horrible tune.
Off the chart rich ~4600-6200rpm, then starts heading lean in a hurry. Curious how lean it gets out towards redline. You might want to take the car to another dyno just to confim the a/f readings. Hopefully it's just due to an O2 sensor that was slow to react. Ask the guys when the dyno's wideband O2 was last changed. Would hate to see all your work turn into a paperweight over fuel-scored bearings or lean detonation near redline. |
