What's wrong with my A/F ratio?

1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I have the Stillen Supercharger Stage II put on my car and GRD and Stillen are trying to figure out what is wrong with my A/F ratio's. Can anyone here give me insight to bring the A/F ratio down? Here is the chart.

The ones that start in the 12's are the SC and the ones that start in the 13's are stock with Stillen TD exhaust. Stillen is trying to say that my stock A/F ratios are messed up as well. Can anyone post theirs so that I can have something to compare to?

BTW, if it matters, these A/F ratios are measured via the exhaust. GRD says that they read a little higher because of the cats doing their job. Is that true?

Also, I am not noticing any detonation at during the A/F peak, well, not any that I can hear.

These are my numbers/AF with Vortech SC. A/F was taken at the exhaust.

What is GRD using to tune the engine? That lean spike at 5000rpm is very concerning.

Thanks. It appears that your A/F ratio doesn't spike like mine does in the 5-5.5k rpm range. I wonder what is causing the spike?

BTW, thanks for posting your A/F ratio's ;)

Yeah!!! I don't know what is causing the spike. I don't konw what GRD is using to tune the engine either. They said that Split second box that controls the Stillen SC is locked and tuning it will void the warranty. So, beyond that, I don't know what abilities they would have to be able to tune the car.

Can they even tune it?

Sharif,

No tuning was able to be made on Username's car. The split sec box comes locked from stillen for that kit (warranty). Username has an appointment to bring the car back for further diagnosis. Suffice it to say, he's shouldn't be shifting past 5000 rpms!

Cheers,

Tuan

Tuan, I'm just trying to get peoples opinions, not trying to second guess anything GRD wants to try. If anything, I am definately irritated with Stillen, its there product. I am definately not going over the 5K rpm though. My detonation comments were regarding when it was on the dyno. I hope this clairifies my questions on here. Since you have responded to this, can you give me any ideas what is or might be causing the spike? You saw my car before the SC went on, you dyno'd it, ha ha :icon38: . Until my appointment, I am trying to get ideas, that's all, nothing more.

BTW, Tuan, other than the spike, does anything else look out of line at all?

Didn't know the Split Second box could be locked. Vortech uses the SS Box, loads it with their parameters, but a tuner can go in a make several changes and load those changes into the ECU.

Pretty easy to do . Just doesnt include a 9 pin to hook up your laptop to

I don't know what to say to this... except... I think Stillen will void the warranty if the SS Box has been tampered with, therefore they lock their SS Box.

Sure, it could be the same one Vortech uses, but if it was designed for the Stillen and Stillen wanted to warranty their SC, then it seems like they would lock it.

What I don't get is that if the AFR is off, like mine is, then people like me are screwed and are kept from being able to adjust AFR.

ARE YOU READING THIS STILLEN????

With it getting very lean for only 500rpm's . You would have to think some how they have the tune off in side the box it self .
Is this a new install ?

username Apr 30, 2006 02:49 PM

Yes, it is brand new install. I haven't even had the satisfaction of going over 5k yet. :(

booger Apr 30, 2006 02:50 PM

They will more than likely put a new box in . They will figure it out .

Yeah, I know, I'm just trying to find out the question everyone asks, "WHY ME?" :icon38: :icon22:

Since you obvious want to keep your warranty in place, I would email this chart to Stillen ASAP. They must do something for you, I would imagine, since the AFR is dangerously lean at the 5000rpm point. If they dont, you will likely be filing a warranty claim with them, which I am sure they would like to avoid.

GRD has already emailed it to them. If you look at the A/F Ratio before the SC went on (same graph) you'll notice that the N/A tune of my car did the same thing, just in a different RPM. Stillen is trying to say that it is my car and not their S/S box. I think??? I'm letting GRD work with them on the matter. Do you think that I should call Stillen as well, and hassle them?

Sharif@Forged May 1, 2006 05:56 AM

I would let GRD handle it.
