I just don't understand why you pair ED pistons with eagle rods? if the eagle rods are enough, the regular arias pistons will be enough.

Even with the eagle rods I would want the ED pistons because of their bigger ringlands. They are bigger than the regular Arias pistons. After popping one ringland and it costing me alot in rebuild, a few hundred is cheap insurance.

The reason that we use Arias Extreme Duty pistons in all of our builds, is because they are the strongest piston on the market, hands down. They are complete overkill for anything under 600hp...but the only downside in these applications is the cost (so overkill is not a bad thing in this scenario).

After having to pull my motor and rebuild it because of breaking 3 piston ringlands, I was the first person to test the ED pistons...there was no audible difference compared to the standard Arias piston...and they can take MUCH more abuse!:eek:

Every built motor that I have heard about going down has been due to a piston failure...sure, the failure was likely due to detonation or heat issues, but the zero silicone forged aluminum design of the ED, as well as the thicker ringlands, makes them more durable, more forgiving when pushed to the limit:D .

As far as the eagle rods:
I will be willing to bet that nobody will break an eagle rod under 600whp! Probably safe to say even under 700-800hp...When we build a motor, we build it for specific power goals..the motor that we have for sale is perfect for someone planning on running 500-550hp or less...will it hold up for higher power levels, probably..but at this point, we recommend going with 12mm headstuds:eek: to provide better clamping force between the cylinder heads and the block. When you begin to go past the 550whp power level, many other things need to come into play:
More power will require:
larger injectors,
further upgrades to the fuel system (not necessary yet, but recommended-ie:AAM stage 2)
upgraded cams
headwork
if twin turbo (upgraded turbos)
much beefier clutch

the next level:
Darton Sleeves
14mm headstuds
oversized valves
upgraded valvestrain

We can do it all, we have some pretty sick motor build s going on right now:D

I agree with Todd, Ziv. People going to find that the Eagle rods will support very high whp levels. Eagle claims 1200whp, which even if 2/3 of that is accurate, the rods will hold up wonderfully. There have been a few people that have damaged standard duty pistons in the 550-650whp range, so Arias ED pistons are the way to go, IMHO.

I understand, but just that I think the board has the mentality that the eagles are a 'bargain rod' so they can't be that strong. I run them in my car so I for one, don't buy into that mentality.

The powers to be, might do well with a "Finance House" 100% upfront and a few points extra profit. Couldn't hurt the seller, might be a burden for the Adicted.

Ha! I've actually lost sleep over doing this, but I'm building a second house and closing is just weeks away, so I'm trying to be cautious about ramping up balance:limit ratio until I have keys in hand :)
