Highest HP on Eagle's?

What's the highest HP that you guys have seen on the VQ35 Eagle Rods? I'm debating on whether or not to step up to Pauter/Cunningham.. The engine will be right around the 800whp level..

At 800whp, you are going to be sleeving hte motor and using oversizede headstuds, correct? You could probably get away with using the eagles, but the GTM rods are tested to over 300hp per rod and the pauter rods even higher!

Trav, I wouldn't risk it with the Eagles...The Pauters have been proven to work to 800 WHP...I'd use those...

turismo May 9, 2006 09:30 AM

Buy the Pauters. Why skip out on one of the most important parts of the motor. PAuters have been proven to make 1300rwhp plus on a 350z race car. I've heard to many stories about the eagles.

not to hijack this thread but does any know much hp the wiseco pistons are rated at? i cant seem to find out

z33boi May 9, 2006 10:36 AM

oh and i wouldnt go with the eagle rods if you're going for 800hp..eagle rods are supposely only good for 550-600hp

Where did you here that? They are rated at 1500 Hp for 6 cylinder Nissan motors and I have personally used them in 300zx motor's putting out 600-850 Rwhp for well over 5 years now :icon11:.

I also know that Jorge Lazcano was running the Eagle rods with upgraded L19 Rod bolts in his 300zx from PR with 1800+ Rwhp.

It cracks me up that people think that Eagle rods will not hold up to the task. 99.999999% of the people here will never see 1/3 the power that the Eagle rods will hold.

z33boi May 9, 2006 01:32 PM

my bad kyle, i only assumed it..i didnt know it could hold up to that much power, i have also never seen eagle rods hold up to that much in any car but know what you jus mentioned above makes me want to change my mind about choice of rods just a lil bit

XBS May 9, 2006 01:48 PM

99.9999% of the people the post on here that eagle rods wont hold up to the power have no real world expeirance and are only going off what they read on the internet a pictures they see. So please if you dont know what you are talking about, dont make suggestions. ;)

sooo many high hp applications use eagle rods, they are a widely used, very popular choice for many race applications...

don't be scared:icon18:

for how long do they use these eagle rods? I mean these guys that are running race engines are rebuilding their engines very often and taking into account that Eagle rods are quite cheap compared to Pauter, Carrillio etc. this might be the reason why they are choosing these rods.

Well seems to me that you are contradicting yourself. If I constantly hear or see pics of people having horrible experiences with eagles, why would I purchase that rod. Do a search on google or yahoo on pauter vs eagle and look at the pics or experiences shared by both.

Why do you think most top racers use other rods besides eagles?

I did a search and I didn't see anything about eagle horror stories. I guess you're just jumping on the internet bandwagon. If people repeat things enough times they must be true. :D You could always supply links to these horror stories you speak of.

A supra owner down here in Houston had a reputable machine shop install some Eagles on his 900rwhp and his grenaded on hte dyno after tweaking his car for 35psi of boost. I witnessed this myself. The rod went straight through the block.

The rest of the stories I have heard have been through other forums asking the same questions and also seeing pics of the damaged rods.

I'm not knocking the rods at all. I think they are decent rods for making 500-600hp, but I will not put them on a car making more than that. Plus I feel kind of funny knowing the rods are made in china( I know thats kind of wierd but...) and not knowing if they go through all the processes like other rod manufactors.

Trav4011 May 10, 2006 05:40 AM

What's funny.... is that many other big name rod manufacturer's are having the "h-beam" rods forged overseas. Most companies just do the final honing/bushing install here in the states.. I made 661whp with a set of eagles in my SR20 with turbo/nitrous.. They never failed...

turismo May 10, 2006 06:05 AM

Pauters are made in US and also Crowers.
