how come I can't find any ST dynos that start at 2000 rpms?

actually most all of them start at 3000 rpms and some don't even go to redline only going to 6000 rpms - especially TN dynos, they all start at 3000 for some reason - is there a reason?

can some ST people post up some dynos that show 2000-redline or 2500-redline?

sorry just frusturated with all the cut off dyno charts

RED HOT Z Jun 9, 2006 12:19 PM

what are you saying our dynos start at 3k because bigger turbo means more turbo lag so we spool around 3k and that when we get our power and mine drops at 7100rpms

sentry65 Jun 9, 2006 12:39 PM

no the dyno charts that I'm finding always start at 3000 for the most part

many other dynos will start recording and logging data at 2000 or 2500 rpms, but most ST dyno charts that I've found online by searching all seem to start at 3000 which seems a bit late to me

Its up to the operator at what engine speed he starts recording...

sentry65 Jun 9, 2006 12:51 PM

I know, I'm just wondering if anyone would be kind enough to post their ST dyno if it happened to start recording before 3000 rpms.

I'm curious to see how ST's transition into boost by the charts

seems like with all the ST kits installed out there, like 5-10% of people ever post their dynochart

RED HOT Z Jun 9, 2006 01:21 PM

o thats what you mean lol

tig488 Jun 9, 2006 02:09 PM

im looking at mine, it starts at 2750 and goes up to 6600.

Alberto Jun 9, 2006 03:49 PM

Mine start at little over 2000rpm. By 3000rpm Im making 300ft/lbs. I dont have the file just a dyno chart printout thats all wrinkled up its been in my glove box since I had my car tuned...its a smooth transition on the dyno, it feels awesome on the street, but you wont see crazy ST power curves. I also remember my TQ holds upwards of 380ft/lbs from 4000-5500rpm's iirc.

sentry65 Jun 9, 2006 04:00 PM

nice Alberto, so what's your torque at 2000 and 2500 rpms?

you're hitting peak tq somewhere before 4000 then? like 3500? your sig says 400 tq so i'm assuming so right?

this is why i'm bringing this up, cause the dyno charts that actually start at 3000 rpms seem to have some room for error right when it starts

like one 380whp TN chart I've seen online that starts at 3000 rpms shows it making 230tq on a dynojet and that doesn't seem quite right if you're making 300tq at 3000 with your car. Another TN setup is making 140tq at 3000, another 250tq - crazy amounts of error

seems like all dyno operators should have more of a standard procedure for getting an accurate chart, but I know they're probably more concerned with tuning the car well above 3000 rpms than getting an accurate 2500-3500 rpm reading by starting the run at 2000 rpms and recording either right then or shortly after

tig488 Jun 9, 2006 04:32 PM

my peak tq of 410 is at 3700rpm and holds until ~5300 then slowly fallls, my peak hp of 380 is at 4000 and does the same. remember this was when my boost was dropping from 12 to around 6. now it goes from 12 to around 10.

Alberto Jun 9, 2006 05:32 PM

Ok Im looking at the graph it starts at 2250rpm's.

2500--->260ft/lbs
3000--->300ft/lbs
3500--->350ft/lbs
4000--->380ft/lbs

400ft/lb peak at 4200 and holds until 4700rpm's

5000--->380ft/lbs
5500--->365ft/lbs
6000--->350ft/lbs
6500--->300ft/lbs

As you can see I have 350ft/lbs or more from 3500-6000rpm's, makes for a fun ride;)

sentry65 Jun 9, 2006 06:18 PM

thanks, yeah you have a nice ride for sure - everyone with a turbo does. To me, your data shows a more accurate dyno curve than a lot of the other ST dynos that start recording at 3000 rpms.

it's still hard to compare cars though cause some dynos were done in the middle of a cold winter and some are done in the middle of summer and elevations are different. Some dynos are outside, others are pretty much indoors.

I found this site with some interesting equations on it
http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-...eading/cfm.htm

according to it, at 500 ft elevation with a 400whp car, you're losing about 6whp than at sea level
At 1500 ft, you're losing about 18whp.

it's 100 degrees outside in AZ right now at 1250 ft above sea level, sucks for trying to make power

Will this satisfy? Note this was done on a dynojet. The green run, my wheels actually spun on the dyno causing that spike.

I don't know what others refer to here, but my turbo spools at 2500-2700 and I hit full boost at around 3200-3300rpms... Well, look at the dyno and make your own assumption.

Damn Tuarran looking at your dyno TQ you def hit full boost at around 3300rpm's, how the fuk do you hit so soon, mine comes on HARD at 4000rpm's, not as soon as you.

Quamen Jun 10, 2006 01:29 PM

Here is mine back when I had my NCR ST a while back. This was a Turbonetics T70 turbo so it was big. As for the A/F and the power drop off lets just say the tuner was more like a guesser IMO. hence the blown engine. This was 8psi.

My best guess would be the 7lb spring and the Blitz SBC. I've got coated stock manifolds and wrapped piping. The gain was set pretty aggressive there, but it was hitting about 9.0-9.1psi on the dyno that day.

Alberto Jun 10, 2006 04:23 PM

Hmm I may try that boost controller sooner than I thought, I really like how early that comes on...would be nice for the street
