Here's my TT set-up plan. Help me with any other additions please.
Sorry to be posting so many threads lately, hope you guys don't mind. I just want to have everything together when i do the installation.
I committed to buy a PE TT Kit form forum member turismo, havn't paid him yet because it's still coming off the car. Here's the set-up so far: PE TT Kit Walbro 255 fuel pump Tial bov Crawford Nav cubby dual gauge pod digital boost gauge (reads a digital # without a needle, but is 52mm) AEM UEGO wideband NGK LFR6AIX-11 1-step colder spark plugs Turbo XS dual stage Manual Boost Controller Service manual New oil filter/new oil New power steering fluid New Radiator fluid extra vacuum tubing BEER Anything else i need? I was thinking of a turbo timer maybe. |
How abouit a clutch for the power you will be making after install... :)

sig says jwt flywheel/clutch

Make sure you get an Oil cooler on that beast!
Tune! Some other options: Exhaust? Test Pipes? EGT's? Upgade the brakes and tires (you are going to be going a whole h@ll of lot faster after TT)? Does the PE TT come with larger injectors? |
I don't have any experience with the Tial BOV, but I've been told it doesn't work well for smaller turbos. For larger Supra sytle turbos they work better.
Also what are you using for EMS? |

Exhaust - going to stick with stock for a while. Test pipes - i live in CA EGT - you mean the gauge? I think i'm chill with a wideband for now Brakes - hawk pads are enough for me right now Tires- i have 18x8.5/18x9.5 rims with toyo t1-s's all around, should be good. As someone else mentioned, i do already have a clutch/flywheel |
EGT - Exhaust Gas Temperture
When you upgrade power on the engine - you also need to upgrade your cooling and the best way to do that is an oil cooler. If you search, you will find many people who have concerns about tempertures in stop and go traffic during the summer with a TT and solve it with an oil cooler - cheap and easy to install. |
If you are going to track your car, you want BOTH a bigger radiator and an oil cooler.

Maybe i'll go with an oil cooler down the road sometime just for safety. As far as EGT goes - i know what the acronym stands for, and i know you monitor it with a gauge. I just don't see the need for the gauge if im only going to be runninga bout 5psi. |

I have heard too many horror stories of folks who slap on turbos or SC's and drive off, only to have their engines blow up in very short order. |
That is why I said EGT's would just be a good idea but not required.
I still believe an oil cooler is needed no mater if you just drive on the street or the track. Do a search and you will find many people with TT with oil temp problems in stop and go traffic. They solve it by installing an oil cooler. I agree you don't need a larger radiator unless you track the car. |

I made 412rwhp at 7.5 psi of boost with stock computer. PE says you dont need to upgrade the stock ecu until 9psi. I had mine running for over 6 months without a problem.

Absolutely! An EGT gauge is a must. EGT spikes are one the causal agents of detonation. |
OT-but Ive found that most who own an EGT dont even know what those spikes mean. G.Ride-do you know what it would mean if at WOT your EGT's spiked 300 degrees hotter than normal? And dont tell me "Id just let off the gas" do you actually know what is likely causing it? IMO-a good wideband is better for most...

Alberto, thats part of the problem... There could be mutiple things that can cause those EGT spikes and mutiple things that can happen because of those spikes. I guess its just a good safety feature. I dont argue that wide band isnt beneficial. I am just as much a fan of Wide O2 as I am of EGTs. |
pm me if you need help
I have the PE kit making 585 rwhp on my 04 350z |
