notice that along with the removed factory oil/water heat exchanger, I got rid of the lines for it. If you look you can see in one of the pics the thermostat housing, the nipple for the oil/water heat exchanger was removed and we drilled and tapped it to put in a NPT plug. At the otherend, on the large pipe on the pass side, we just cut the nipple off and welded it shut. Did the same thing for the throttle body cooling lines, cut off the nipples and welded everything shut.

like everything else, this was done to clean up the bay and make it all easier to work on. i am also hoping that there is a minor side benefit of more of the coolant being forced to take its path thru the block/heads, rather then having 2 easy routes around it.

Looks good Charles...hey...(besides the issue with fitting them through stock size head holes) how do you like the 1/2" studs? What did you end up torquing them down to?

so far so good, we will see when i start boosting tho!

running them thru the stock holes in the head wasnt bad after i put molylube on the shaft of the stud, it hid the friction well enough that it was easy to tell when i bottomed out. snug fit, but it worked

I am confident that they are going to withstand the test of time and HP here, with those HKS headgaskets especially make me feel better.

I torqued them to 100ft lb.... that should be sufficient. Its one of those mods that I feel if your engine is already out, your better off just going to the larger studs, its only gonna help.

BTW guys I sent Todd @ BuiltZMotors.com my engine to do the 1/2" headstud conversion.

I remember seeing something about the PS relocation kit on your site. that is exactly what I will be doing to my car here in the near future except I will hopefully be able to position the PS and the alternator on the driver side in the correct position. I have a feeling the PS may be a bit trickey so I may end up ditching it.

brandon and i mounted the oil cooler behind the intercooler since I have no AC condenser there. We will see how the oil temps behave.

I fired up the car today, started right up.

Should be on the road this weekend, waiting for stuff from Nissan.
