g35 vortech kit vs. 350z vortech kit
Are the two kits the same? I'm assuming they are, but I figure I'd double check before I buy.

i believe they are the same. THe manual is the same for both cars but the wiring is different.

I believe the Air Filters are different between the 2 kits as well. They are 2 different sizes since there is a bit of a difference in clearance between the two engine bays.
|
If that's the case, then there shouldn't be a problem putting a 350z kit in a g35 since there is more clearance, correct? Thanks for the help guys.

No, I believe the filter for the "Z" is larger than the "G" The AC line in the "G" runs right next to the filter and caused me to pull my hair out a bit when I installed it...
You can always buy a smaller filter though to stick on there if need be. But it will be an additional cost. |

I use 4 inch brake duct cooling hose and run it down in front of the wheel well . I used a MUCH larger filter from K&N . You really dont want to go with a smaller filter . It reduces air flow to the blower

what year is your g35? cause i talk to vortech and they said that you have to switch the bracket that holds the s/c to the motor(the black one) and the air filter. if you have a 06 g35, you have to switch the bracket, the a/f, the fmu and ss box. but the ss box dosen't work for the 06 g. i had the same post about this. i also ask one or the techs when the 06 g kit well come out, he said he didn't know (but he was a dick about it!). i don't know what to do, sell the kit and go turbo.but, i don't want to get happy with the boost and bye bye motor.

Incase anyone reads this thread, I called vortech and the kits for the 03 and 04 g35 and 350z are EXACTLY the same. The first few dozen kits for the 350 had a different filter, but they changed it to be the same. The only difference that comes into play is when you're looking at a rev-up motor, in which case the bracket IS different and a couple other minor things. But other than that, the 03 and 04 kits for both care are interchangeable aside from the map that Vortech provides. But, you're going to get your own tune (if you're smart :P) anyways so that doesn't really matter.
I was also told that the T trim blower creates a significantly higher amount of boost and should not be put in on a motor that has stock internals :p Furthermore, warranty is not transferred from one person to another, so if you're busing used, you're SOL :(. |
The FMU for the G35 is different than the 350z one.

The FMU is the same and has the same disk [ 8 to1 ] for the 03-04 model . Vortech went to a 6 to 1 washer inside the FMU after that .

^^ Thanks booger. Btw, are you running the T trim blower yet? I was following some of your posts on the vortech. If so, how is it working out for you? Thanks.
