Im not gonna lie, i love how the C6 Z06 vette looks and if i could justify spending that kind of money on a car, i would own one. Now the Z, i look at it as a challenge. To me, its not really a Z until it has twin turbos spooling under the hood. Its the same concept to me if they were to make the Supra without twin turbos! It may be just me but thats how i see it.......

Z all the way....

1. Not too bad usually. Maybe two good snows per year. Other than that, it's just damned cold.

2. It's running fine right now. It's 100% back to stock except for the JWT cams and flywheel.

3. No, it's Happycat

If your that type of person, no matter how much power you make, it will never be enough. So why not let it not be enough and be 10 grand richer and with a reliable car.... or would you rather be like the other guys who spend ****tons of cash on their car to have it STILL not be enough and then realize when its too late that they started with the wrong car and end up selling it? Cause thats what I see happen to at least half the guys that dont build their own cars.
If everyone can think thru this point, then you won't see people building their cars faster everyday. Also this post won't be here anyway As for myself....If I can build my car without being in debt then I will do it slowly. Chris....think about it carefully....set a goal which you will happy with.

Was going to suggest to leave the Z alone for now and just enjoy it and get a 06 C6 right around New Years...

So enjoy it. Keep your mod bug in check and get some $$ together.

Default Dont be too quick to purchase that Vette.

Browse the Corvette Forums and see what kind of problems they are having....then think again about buying that C6.
I had one....got rid of it.......now looking at a z.

That's odd.
I've been all over ls2gto.com for the last mont or so and did not see anything to turn me off from the GTO, aleast nothing remotely close to some of the things that are going on in our FI section....
Maybe for the vettes it's different...

Don't care how big and capable the motor is, the GTO looks boring. Just my opinion.

The LS2 with headwork, cams and exhaust can match any boosted stock bottom end VQ35 (assuming that the VQ35 owner actually cares about longevity).
true but what are the prices like when you buy them stock. I'm not sure in the US but where i am now the z from the dealer is more expencive than the GTO.
GTO 30,933$ Z 38,000$

There are no '07 GTO's, but an 06 can probably be had for under 29K. The 9K you same can go to build up the brakes, suspension and for wider wheels/stickier tyres, at which point $ to $ the Z will have its *** handed to it in every department except for the looks (subjective).

What is "boring" to you is "understated" to me...
BTW, what's wrong with this pic? I think it's gorgeous...

I would have kept the Z and gotten the APS ST as well (mostly b/c I already have like 10G spent on upgrading the Z and I will recover a 1/4th of it at best...), but as we have discussed in many threads, I have absolutely zero confidence in having a 100% trouble free FI experience, especially considering I have a 5AT.
On the LS2 I will be able to achieve my power goals w/out FI.

Comparing modified cars to stock cars is a waste of time.

I would by the C6(non Z06) in that deep orange color or blue. Very soon a bolt on supercharger will be released by Vortech and others and with 8psi, you should make the wanted figures on your car. Plus the C6 is standard targa top.

If I were to stick with the Z, I would throw either a built SR20-DET with 500WHP or a 6 grand RB26 and not worry about the bottom end until after 700whp. Plus like said before, a GT-R motor in a Z will always draw more of a crowd than a built, turboed 350z.
Yeah! Let's put a SMALLER motor in the car. That's good advice! No warranty, more problems than Jessica Simpson - how about no? An SR20DET in a Z33 is good for one thing: car shows.

Failsafe: You haven't told us, or maybe I missed it, what you wanted out of the car. Daily driving? Is this your only car? What weather? Track/autox/drag? Grocery getter? Canyon-carver? You've said the budget APPROXimately equates, but what about the rest?

My modified Z32TT runs about 1/2 time, while our bolt-on Z33 runs ALL the time. That is the car that hits the most canyons, autocrosses, and track events because N/A power isn't affected by temperature outside, and is 98% reliable.

Well, my friend, you've just invalidated about 95% of the "kills" section...

Comparing is different that racing....

By your standard a Ferrari Enzo is a hopeless waste of a car since you can get the same performance for MUCH cheaper going another route.
