Porting S/C'er

Hi,

Any idea if it is worth while to port the Stillen s/c'er? I've seen reports that claim an increase of ~25whp when also porting the T/B.

TIA.

might want to talk to Stillen about this.

I would think a set of cams would help it immensely.

Which cams, specifically, in your opinion?

Def keep us updated on what you find out from Stillen regarding the porting issue, too!

any cams, but I prefer JWT. S1s are great, S2's are for those that don't want to bump the idle in case they don't like the idle quality, and C2's require valvetrain but are the most aggressive.

Milking the Stillen can get expensive, Sam told me when I still had the Stillen that cams were a good bump in power. He recomended JWT cams.

Yeah, good luck getting anything out of Stillen.
Methinks that they have product liability attorneys answering phones.

Another way to get more boost is a fluidampr. I know some Vortech guys made more boost since the pulley is a tad bit larger.

ported Sc

My stillen SC was ported by Stiegemeir and i have done everything That you can do to a 5 AT. Car ran well for 2 weeks and i hurt #2 cylinder. it smoke fron the exhaust and burns oil. Compresion is 155 psig. Spark plug is full of oil and it has lost power. dynoed two days ago and it made 301 rwhp running on 5 good cylinders. base line is 216. The only cams that will work well are from Scotts performance as they help to elimate the valve overlap.
I also have the stillen headers on the car. The drivers side is at 173 and 170, the pasenger side is at 180 per hole. not sure what the compression should be but thats what i got on my gauge. I must have broke the oil ring on the piston as hit the revlimiter (7100) flashed ecu a few times that night. I have modified everything and make no mistake the car was very fast,

Your story sounds familiar, I caved in the #2 piston on my stage 3 set up. If you don't know, guess where the #2 cylinder is? It's the furthest away from the 7th injector.

To stay on topic http://www.stiegemeier.com/ looks like they do Eaton porting.

ported SC

Ask to speak to Bob about the blower. There is a differnce in power after he ports it. Reference the one he did for me ( located in Burlington Ontario Canada)
Be very carfull taking off the by pass valve actuator for if you try to take of the vacume line the plastic nipple will break off. Cut the line before the regulator.
PM me about the engine repair on #2 cylinder.
thanks

Thanks all for the help.

Sam so far is good with his advise 2me and if he recommends the JWT cams, that's definitely a plus.

The "showmestate" stiegemeier is what made me ask about porting. It would've been better if was local as this is my daily driver.
