BamBam's Update: The Boost is Loose at Forged Peformance!
Since Brent is still on a working vacation in South East Asia (yeah right), he wanted me to post an update on his car.
BamBam's engine tuning is finally done. First, I want to give a special thanks to Sam@GTMotorsports. As a new FCON tuner, I had about 100 or so questions that needed answering, and Sam really helped me to learn the ins and outs of the FCON software and hardware. If you live in the Western half of the USA, you owe it to yourself to take your car to GT Motorsports, or just stop in for a visit. To back up a little bit, Brent's car arrived with a blown headgasket, and Chris and Devon worked for about 24 hours straight to completely disassemble and reassemble his engine engine and turbo kit. After putting it back together, we saw 5 psi oil pressure on the gauge. We tried to get BamBam back on the road, so he could attend his rally, but it never happened due to the oil issue. Actually, it turns out that we had oil pressure all along, and it was just a bad in-cabin oil pressure gauge (not a bad oil pressure sensor). Here is a partial recap of his current setup: Sleeved Shortblock 3.5L JE Pistons 9.0:1 CR Pauter Rods GTM Stage III heads with oversized head studs HKS Head Gasket Rear Cylinder Cooling Modification AAM Stage I and Stage II Fuel System HKS FCON VPro with Knock Amp HKS 1000cc Injectors Greddy TT with upgraded TD06-60-1 Turbos AAM 3 Inch Exhaust and AAM 3 inch Downpipes with Dumps HKS EVC Boost Controller, HKS Navigator Pro Final numbers on C18 Race fuel at 23psi 666whp Dyno Dynamics STD Correction 742whp Dyno Jet STD Correction All 5th gear pulls, and the dyno comparo was done just a couple hours apart. At this power level, you get basic ONE SHOT at a peak power number due to engine heat soak. On the first pass at the DynoJet, the clutched slipped for a split second near 6000rpm, and then grabbed again...causing their weird power drop. On the second run, the engine was too heat soaked and the power dropped off about 20whp. This Dyno has one tiny fan. :( Next time...a little heat in the clutch would have prevented that slip at the end. Funny coicidence with the sign of the devil...I think that's a good description of this monster. :D
I took it to the track and ran a 10.37@134mph Just kidding Brent...I am sure he'll have plenty of time for that later. |
that is just freaking awesome #'s
|
hahah awesome.
good to see someone turn up the boost for once! BTW good work! I would like to see what the standard 18g's do at 23psi. Maybe ill go for it when I put in the 3" downpipes? Very cool to see someone finally take it to the 700 DJs, by the looks of it, your not too far from the 800s. Were the turbos out of breath here or could you have taken it further? |
OH DAMN! That's the highest numbers I've seen on a Z yet!
|
Nice job Sharif! I bet Brent can't wait to get the car back, that is some awesome power. Congrats! :)
