GTK 550... Who's Got One?

The GTK's must be shipping to the long line of people who were anxiously anticipating there shipping date of Jan 1st? So who has one and how much power is it (or is it not) making. Anxious for any news.

Quote taken from treadstoneperformance.com:

"We will be one of the very few vendors to be able to sell these turbochargers for the first few months of their release. Release date is Jan 1st, and we are taking pre-orders as of now. email for more info! The GT-K ceramic ball bearing turbo lineup has arrived and brought a whole new level of performance to turbochargers. Debuted at the SEMA show this new breed of turbo created a buzz with media and show attendees from the minute the new products section was opened and the instant people saw these revolutionary units. Voted "International Best New Product" at the 2006 SEMA show, a select group of magazine editors and publishers from around the globe, awarded the GT-K Turbo with 5 of the innaugural prizes."

Did I miss something? Is treadstone the manufacturer of the GT-K turbos now?

Oh wait, they're NOT! TURBONETICS IS!

Just because a dealer says it, does NOT make it true. Go to the source.

So, a turbo got a prize that hasn't been released to the public yet? I wonder what "select" group that was...

dude, why are you always so hostile?

I just went to the source  and the guy said they will be ready to ship mid-month. Turbonetics price for the GTK550 is 2,040, and he confirmed that treadstoneperformance is once of the few dealers that signed up and their price is 1,900 :icon38:

i think they mean it got the prize during SEMA while it was displayed...

The retail of the GT-K 500 ( 450-500 HP ) and the GT-K 550 ( 500-600 HP ) will retail for $2049. This is most likely the application most Z and G users will use.

tig488 Jan 9, 2007 04:01 PM

sorry but that price ridiculous, i know they are great turbos and all, and the general public will probably fall for the hype and buy them, but why spend double for a turbo that can be outperformed by cheaper models. they are nice tho.

Ed 718 Jan 9, 2007 04:04 PM

^ Notice how I posted retail.......

taurran Jan 9, 2007 04:27 PM

Yeah, most people don't end up paying retail. If you look at retail on many of the products on the market you'd be surprised.

Anyway, what do you really expect? This isn't a friggin playstation 3 we're talking about here. You can't expect to have it waiting on the shelf at midnight on January first...

I'm sure once these things get out we can try to do some kind of groupbuy there has gotta be 10 people on the boards waiting for this. I know I am:icon38:

As Ed said thats retail and look at the price Treadstone is selling for. The price will of course vary by vendor. As for when they are shipping I've talked to a few vendors who have already sold some and are planning to have them ship in th next week or two..

Cool...that's exactly what the Turbonetics rep told me over the phone :)

MIA, would you consider setting up a group buy for people on my350?

I'm still debating on TT or ST, but a possible group buy for the GTK550 would most likely steer me towards a used TN with a GTK...I'm sure there are a lot of people on here that would be interested in a group buy just like someone already mentioned.

I don't think I can set up group buys since I'm not a vendor here....
