What's the record for whp on a VQ?

As the title says, whats the whp and wtq record for a VQ35 without being stroked? How about with being stroked? Just curious and don't have 1000 hours to go through the huge number of posts that show up when you search for "highest horsepower vq"... :D

iStan Jul 6, 2007 12:30 PM

Going for the gold? haha

SinCity350Z Jul 6, 2007 12:40 PM

Nah, just curious as to where the bar is set at. It would be cool to say, but there is probably a much higher whp VQ somewhere out there. I already know that the old VRT G35 was at 820 something and thats more than we are at right now.

Dynosty Jul 6, 2007 12:42 PM

The boys in NJ are claiming 1800whp up to 2400+ on the engine dyno with twin GT47's.

rcdash Jul 6, 2007 12:43 PM

GTM got to 855 last I saw on their stroker. VTR has that insane 6? sec Z - don't know how much hp they got running... I wonder what the theoretical limit is for whp to the ground in a rwd Z (traction limit that is - I mean even if you use glue for tires - lol)

SinCity350Z Jul 6, 2007 12:50 PM

Ok, let me re-phrase that, whats the record on a VQ using off-the-shelf parts lol.

There is no such thing. You can burn the tires in bone stock form. It is all about suspension/chassis setup, tires, even management comes into play with things like boost-per-gear.

That was bogus. The only one on the boards at this time to eclipse 800WHP is Sam @ GTM.We know someone else that should break the 1000WHP mark this summer:D

UnderPressure Jul 6, 2007 02:26 PM

Sam's got the street driven overall but the thread calls out stock displacement.
There are quite a few 3.5l in the 600-625hp range. Limit is the size of the turbos used in the commercially available systems.

taurran Jul 6, 2007 02:28 PM

I believe Performance Motorsport has beaten 800whp by a good ways on their drag cars. These were built by Vinny Ten who know has his own shop up in New York.

Sharif@Forged Jul 6, 2007 02:38 PM

We did 742whp on the dynojet non-stroked, and 666whp on our DynoDynamics.

Philthy Jul 6, 2007 02:38 PM

I've been calling BS on the VRT 800+whp dynos for a awhile now too, (never confirm too...) It's funny that you mention this - I was on the phone last week with Jim for over an hour and I just had to ask him about the claim VRT dynos and he told me no way 800whp.

Let see some dynojet #'s with 800whp, my offer to pay for the dyno run still stands and let's stop the BS about dyno's breaking, smoking up the tires on the dyno, etc... just get it done already.
