FI'd 5AT owners

So when you're under full boost, does the car bog/lag in between shifts? When going balls to the wall, my car will "hiccup" as it shifts. I'm assuming this is b/c of the increased power. Will a valve body upgrade get rid of this or a new torque converter?

It sounds like you need the VB upgrade and TC. I think the RPM's come on so quick, the tranny can't shift fast enough.

+1

VB and TC for sure and make sure to include a tranny cooler also. (dsskyline on Gdriver) I answered your question there also.

O yeah forgot about the tranny cooler. I don't think it's an absolute must, depending how hard you drive it, but good insurance anyway.

BTW Moog, are you coming to the Jotech Drag day on the 10th?

moog Jul 21, 2007 08:04 PM

wasn't aware there was a drag day...at Ennis?

It's in the Texas section, Aug 10th

you'll get pimptastic, crisp shifts with vb and tc upgrades.

I did a valve body upgrade although my z shifted fine without it. The VB upgrade makes the upshifts and downshifts extremely crisp with no lag.

For some reason since i put the twins on mine shifts pretty quick now.But for saftey,s sake im def doing a tc and vb upgrade or i might just go with sgp,s tranny.

IMO you need a VB and a (tranny cooler if you drive the car hard daily). The stock TC is set between 2650-2900 rpms which is good enough. Unless you plan on taking it to the strip save your money on the TC. Since your going to have the tranny out of the car, you could do the TC but it will set you back around 500.00 plus shipping. I have all of the above and it has helped considerably at the drag strip.
