Who's running 10lbs of boost on a stock block?

Who out there is running 10lbs of boost on a stock block?

I'm at altitude pushing 10lbs, so I'm a little different, but i wanted to see if anyone at sea level was doing this and if the motor blew or not.

Has anyone heard of any problems running at 10lbs of boost?

I'm curious because since I'm at altitude my air density is different then all you in lower elevations. My turbos have to spool 10lbs to equal what a 8lb boost level at sea level would achieve.

I guess what I'm really getting after here is, if i run 10lbs of boost at altitude will i blow my motor with great UTEC tune?

My numbers 450 SAE Corrected, 370 Uncorrected whp.

I've run 10 to 10.5 on my Vortech BUT that is much more linier...

I would say you are pushing it on an APS at 10psi and 450 rwhp. be very careful... you wont "feel" anything until it goes "boom"

i had my procharger at 12psi for 5k..no probs

I am also running more than 10psi with my Vortech.

xav_350z Aug 12, 2007 02:41 PM

9.5 psi @ sea level here with my vortech

Abishop Aug 12, 2007 03:43 PM

sweet, thats what i like to hear. But 10lbs from a vortech is a little different then APS TT isn't it?

what engine management are you using? pull the timing and keep the a/f perfect and it can be done, but eventually it will give at these boost levels... the rings don;t hold up for long periods (turbo torque/power- less abusive with the linear/lower torque SC setup).

<---- running 10lbs on a TN ST on Reflash... perfect A/Fs and holds @ 10lbs. no problems whatsoever...

Sharif@Forged Aug 12, 2007 05:09 PM

Torque is what puts stress on engines..not boost, and not whp. A Vortech at 10psi is much more gentle on an engine, when compared to 10psi on a TT kit, due its lower trq output.

Zridder19 Aug 12, 2007 05:37 PM

Im running 10psi and not a problem yet...

wtf no turbo Aug 12, 2007 05:42 PM

How safe is the tn @10psi tuned w/utec? Im sure it would be safer than the reflash@10psi. Isnt the tn tuned up to 9.5 on the reflash?
Has anyone done it ?

That's what I said in the past but got flamed for it by others here. :icon14:

Way too many variables to say, biggest being tune.
