Question about going back to stock after TN fuel pump mod's
I've decided to put my car back to stock half way through my TN kit install. I have already completed the modifications to the FPR and the plastic housing, per TN's instructions.
My question is, how bad will my car run after re-installing the stock fuel pump and injectors, but with the drilled out FPR and the 2 3/8" holes in the pump housing? Will I run super rich, or is it not gonna be a big deal? Any help would be appreciated, as I got a quote from the dealer for $303.00 for a brand new fuel pump assembly    |
What is it you need the stock fuel pump?
|
I'd suggest buying the new assembly. You would think you would run richer because of the extra fuel getting in to the fuel pump. But then maybe you wont because you will still be using the stock fuel pump. I'm assuming the wholes are cut out so the larger warlboro can suck up more fuel but if your still using the stock one maybe it will suck up the same.
Why did you stop the install? |
^^ + 2 on why did you stop
|
Mostly because I'm physically unable to finish it at this time (medical reasons). Also I'm thinking about either upgrading to a new 07 or 08 Z, or possibly trying a new platform all together.
In my FS add for the TN kit, I request that the buyer just swap me fuel assemblies, but if it doesn't sell soon I'll just see how it goes with the mods. Shameless plug: TN kit with extras for sale! https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=297516 :D |
you should be fine. I ran ok on the stock pump with the modified setup. Ran rich with the 440's i had but ran fine with the stock injectors.

I agree you should be ok. If anything I would expect the fuel pressure to be lower than normal or the same. The modification to the FPR is to keep static fuel pressure at 53 PSI with the upgraded pump. The holes in the surge cannister were to ensure adequate fuel flow to the new pump. Sorry to hear you are stopping the install.

the best thing to do would be to leave the walbro pump in the tank. they are only $90, so it's not much of a loss to you.

Thanks guys, I guess if my kit doesn't sell by the end of the week so I can just swap units, I'll just leave all in the fuel tank as is.

I've been running the Walbro pump in my car stock with no issues for the last 2 years.

To OP - You'll be fine with the TN modified setup and the 255 although you MAY be slightly rich up top since the factory tuning accounts for a pressure drop at ~5000+. Not enough to hurt anything just not optomized for the best power but this can easily be tuned out with UTEC/AFC/etc etc. |
