**FI FORUM CONDUCT** -- It's best that you ALL read this [Updated]
Classically, and even more-so lately, this forum has been full of hot-headed debates, name calling, bashing, and playing the victim.
Constantly, underhanded comments meant to rile up certain individuals are posted, and there have been far too many uncivilized comments posted on behalf of many members and sponsors. Not to mention there has been an epidemic of "calling out" certain individuals. This will no longer be tolerated: neither from regular members, premier members, nor paid sponsors. If the behavior in this forum does not improve immediately, bans willl be handed out like bracelets at a concert. NO MORE WARNINGS WILL BE GIVEN. Any attempts to play dumb, play the victim, place the blame on others for your own actions, or trying to get others banned, are highly looked down upon and will likely result in more extensive banishment. If you are a paid sponsor, DO NOT post comments bashing other vendors, sponsors, or shops. This INCLUDES making posts that make ambiguous references to the vendor, sponsor, or shop in question. To clarify this "ambiguous reference" clause: in other words, don't make a post that says "I heard a certain shop shows bogus dyno numbers." If you have no FIRST HAND knowledge about a topic feel free to hit the subscribe button and watch. Assumptions, guesses, and accusations are not needed. This goes for everyone. Feel free to click the "report bad post" button if you feel someone is violating these terms. ONCE PER THREAD is plenty. --This message comes with support from the entirety of the my350z staff. Thank you. |
Adding some relevant info.

I say this because I am concerned that some people may be afraid to blow the whistle on misconduct, poor quality products, or poor customer service by a vendor/sponsor/shop for fear of being banned. How can someone post their negative experiences without naming names and making an allegation? They can't, IMO. Negative feedback about products, shops, and vendors can be as valuable to the community as the positive feedback. It is one thing to post an unbiased review and it is totally another to engage in name calling and shop bashing. Stating facts about a negative experience will be totally acceptable, as long as the post is not written in an inflammatory tone. It's just like Julian said... unbiased, honest reviews. Not bashing. If you don't know the difference... you will have to find out the hard way. |

is that still acceptable? As far as I'm concerned, using a negative smiley icon is no different than posting a negative comment about someone. It's not like you're going to get banned just because you used a smiley. What really counts is the apparent INTENT of a post. And it would be wise for everyone to pay attention to whether their post looks like it has a harmless intent, a sarcastic intent, or an inflammatory intent... If someone makes a post and it looks inflammatory to me, it's not my fault for reading it that way -- it's the responsibility of the person making the comment to edit it in such a way that it does not look inflammatory. |
I'm not going to quote every post that I'm responding to, instead I'm going to just talk about what I think are the key issues people should realize:
1. It is extremely time consuming to go into threads and delete people's posts one-by-one. Furthermore this does not work to diffuse situations that are getting out of hand. 2. No one ever said that if you get banned, that it will be a permanent ban. It will most likely be a 3-day ban unless you really deserve more. 3. Julian ... if you want to delete everything you ever posted and be a parts seller instead of contributing positively to the forum, that's your prerogative. But it's also retarded. You have contributed lots of useful information and posted so many interesting experiences that you and your customers have had. I for one would be very disappointed to see you take the tail between the legs route. 4. What is so hard for people to understand about this? We just want the same good information that comes with the F/I forum posts. We want to hear everything, whether it's a good experience, or a bad experience. No one said that has to change. We want important disclosures such as how VRT was running a shady operation. But it can be done without turning the thread into a sh1t-flinging screaming monkeyfest. We basically want civilized discussion, minus the comments from the peanut gallery, speculations, accusations, etc which cause things to get blown out of proportion. 5. Just use your common sense. Yes someone was already banned for posting a bad humor joke in this thread. Is he gone forever? No. Play it cool and stop crying foul. This forum can be truly great if people stop their b1tching and stay civilized toward one another. 6. If this thread is SCARING anyone into NOT posting their opinion, you need to come out of your shell. No one is getting banned here for their opinion, despite how unwanted it may be. Posting jokes and bullsh1t to look cute or funny, however is not helping anyone. Again... use your common sense. Think about how your posts look to other people. These things matter. |
Apparently some people on the forum are not taking this seriously. The moderation staff has reached a breaking point - if you act like a child and cannot obey the rules or respect your fellow Z owners then you're going to be put in "time-out".
If you don't like a particular user then put them on your ignore list. This BS is going to stop. |
Bumping to reinterate the original post. This includes rehashing topics simply for the purposes of stirring the pot. Please keep personal vendettas/ect to PM and or email...
