3inch DP's for my Greddy TT's

Well im going to upgrade a lil and decided on going to the DP's and Open Dumps.. Basically i know my choices are the AAM's or the SGP's as far as DP's go. I researched them and found the SGP's seem to open up closer to the actual turbine than the AAM's do. Is this a significant issue? Does it yeild better results? Spool any faster? From what i understand the closer it opens up the better.. right?

I love my AAM setup. If you look around, you can find it for as low as $550

I dont think you will notice any big difference, but it sure doesnt hurt. If I was you I would go with the SGP for the stated reason and they are also cheaper!:)

Dont forget that you will have to get a wastegate dumps with either.

I have the AAM DP open dump set up and absolutely love them

ZU L8R Dec 18, 2007 04:22 PM

I'd go with the SGP's

blueper4mancez Dec 18, 2007 05:30 PM

yeah man sgp is the way to go , if you to get your clutch replace is so much more easier to do it .

We recommend the SGP for the reason that you already know.... It is 3inch piping closer to the turbo then the AAM.

I have bought both the AAM's and SGP's. The AAM did not fit. The SGP's are a perfect fit, they are being put on by Sharif and retuned right now. If you choose to buy the AAM, it is a 50/50 chance that they will fit right.

i have the SGP ones and i like them

i am buying my SGP with the relocation kit as i read this...i was also in the same debate between the two...and now i see...sgp FTW!!

r0mey Dec 19, 2007 03:58 PM

i guess im ordering SGP now

I have the AAM and they fit up perfect after I enlarged the holes slightly to bolt them upto the turbos.

I also decided to plum the dumps back into the downpipes, the open wastegates got old after awhile IMHO...

wow i think you are the first person I have heard that didn't like open dumps on their car. Are you saying you had to modify the AAM setup to fit the car?

bbs350z Dec 19, 2007 04:33 PM

you do realize that dumped wastegate relieve alot of backpressure, and make the turbo run more efficiently. how much psi you running jkenefic??

MADScientist Dec 19, 2007 04:44 PM

I am fully aware ^^^^

I run 20psi of boost... The way that I have the dumps plumed back in they do not create turbulance in the exhaust system. I am not concerned at all about any power loss or spool time. Best I can tell it is uneffected.

I just prefer a more civilized sound when I am driving the car hard. I had them dumping to atmosphere and it got old. Just preference.

I was one of the first to get these kits, and the 3 holes on the flange that bolts to the turbo needed to be opened up a bit, other than that they fit just fine.

I think both systems work great, I would probably go the SGP route if that was an option a the time I bought mine.

I am the same way. They are ok at times, but just annoying at other times.

QuadCam Dec 19, 2007 06:55 PM

I don't like how the AAM leaves the wastegates prett much in the stock location. It looks like it'll make removing the tranny that much more difficult compared to the SGG dumps or the SVRT dumps.
