HKS GT Supercharger
So I had a very long meeting with Richard Lafferty (President) and Scott Burch (Business Development; Senior Manager) of HKS USA today. We went pretty in depth about the new supercharger that they're releasing soon. I know that a lot of you guys are waiting on this cause I get calls on it all the time. For all you Rev-Up guys, you will have to wait as CARB is just getting approved for the LEV1 engines. The LEV2 engines are almost there but they're having issues with just one component in the supercharger unit. Once that is approved, they will probably move on to the Rev-Up engines but there was no confirmation at this point on this. The good thing is that HKS has already put a GT Supercharger kit on a Rev-Up engine so CARB testing shouldn't take long to commence if and when once the other 2 variations have been approved for CARB.
Rick gave me the opportunity to test drive his own personal G35 coupe with the GT supercharger and the new Hipermax III's and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed. The driveability is perfect for street application vehicles. You can't avoid the noises from the supercharger itself but it is definitely quieter than the Vortech or the Stillen unit. When driving around town, the car drives with factory reliability but as soon as you give it more throttle, the power comes instantaneously. The supercharger seems to be very quick in response and the power is very smooth and linear. My overall impressions were very good and I expected nothing less than that from HKS. If any of you are looking for a low maintenance and CARB approved F.I system that delivers reliable power, this is the kit that you want. If you guys want my impressions about the Hipermax III's, visit the "Brakes & Suspension" section as I will post a thread there.
