Well, here's the photo update of what happened after I left Forged 2 weeks ago.

After a sweet dyno tune by Sharif, I was on my drive down to Macon, GA. Heard a knocking under the hood. Immediately pulled over. Saw that the cog belt had shredded. Tore up the hood liner real good and stripped the wires bare on the IVT solenoid.

Well undid the f'd belt and continued my journey. SES came on, but I figured it coulda been anything. Got to my buddies and did a bike ride. Cleaned up and went to the car to clear the code. Turned the key on and the car filled with smoke. Of course car wouldnt start after that. Called AAA and had it flatbedded baCK to Forged 100 miles away. Sharif found a burned out ECU fuse, replaced it, and threw in a new UTEC. Got back home and still couldnt clear the p1136 code for the bank 2 IVT solenoid control.

After much testing, assumed it musta been a bad stock ECU as well. Found one that matched the DC code on mine at a salvage yard. Got it today and the voltages appear correct. To prevent any such occurrence in the future, I fab'd a metal guard plate protecting the IVT solenoid wires and wrapped the wiring harness in a piece of thick PVC hose. Fingers crossed that the dealer has no problems programming it and resetting my idle to 1000 rpms.

Long thread, but here are some pics :)

Damn...hopefully it all works out for the best this time.

Any idea why it shredded? Bad belt, too tight ? Not aligned?

I had thought of protecting that solenoid a couple of year ago , but never did it . Ive had the belt shred a couple times but never had it hurt the wires for it.....lucky I guess

Sounds like some wire got short-circuited in the process and knocked out the UTEC (nice to know there's no over-current protection on there  ), which in turn blew something in the stock ECU. At least the stock ECU blew a fuse - even if it didn't save it - at least it didn't go up in smoke like the UTEC.

Hope it all works out - good job with the preventative fix.

I think the belt was on too tight. Granted the car had been on the dyno and had numerous runs, but I ran her hard lots of times before that with no problem.

Wow! What such luck. I haven't heard of that isssue before? Maybe you'll have a long great run from now on?

damn that sux, hopefully everything works out!

Well those ECU’s don't work after you let the Magic Smoke out.

Well glad to see you got it all back running.

This is the 2nd one Ive seen happened. Someone on g35driver had the same thing happened to him and it fried his ECU too. after seeing that I check the belt more often on mines. I need to fab me one of those protectors too. Hope things work out for you

Ya i seem to have setbacks everytime I am on the brink of smooth sailing. Even when I installed the kit, i thought that if that belt were to break, theres lots of wires very close. Had the belt actually broken, prolly wouldnt have had any problems. It was that whip piece that really f'd me.

Now the car is tuned, got new tires, and the weather is nicer, and gas is at an all time high. Perfect for cruises to nowhere :)

That goodness that is over!! Now you can enjoy the power!!

Thanks Sharif! I get the ECU reprogrammed on Wednesday and for the 1st time since October, I'll actually have a car with a full tune and no leaks. I cant wait!

Then its time to start saving for a EvoTT or a FI 3" exhaust

the best sight any home mechanic could ask for!
