A Poll For Built Motor Guys ONLY!
First off, please keep this civil guys. Second, please only respond if you have a built motor .
Basically, I'm curious to see how you guys who are built and heavily modified feel about your cars right now. Hindsight being 20/20, would you do it again? Has the whole process been more trouble than the end result has been worth? Would you have gone to another platform altogether i.e., Corvette, Cobra, M3, etc? Would have have left your car simple, meaning good, safe tune, with 400-450whp? Or has all the money and heartache/hassle/time input been completely worth it?
Also, if you choose to respond, it may be helpful to give a quick explanation of how you use your car (track, street "encounters", or just good ol' spirited driving).

Honestly, I dont have a built motor or anything yet, but I have about 25k into my car and I enjoy it everytime I drive it. Im only making 400hp now. And will be going with a built shorty. I think that it will be well worth it once Im done, because all in all, we buy these cars and dump money into because we love doing it. So I cant put a price on my pride and joy just because I enjoy it so much. Hope it helps...

I love the car but its a pain in the @ss all the time. I am lucky that I have a cool @ss mechanic that answers my questions in less than an hour, not to mention any names but his initials are (Joe Kenefic). I also just teamed up with Modified Auto Designs and they are going way out of their way to make some changes to my car. Would I do it again?? Hell No! However I way to deep to turn back now so I will keep modding. I am hoping to get a new toy in October if all works out well. I am happy with the power my car is making, its all the other little **** that needs addressing all the time that really pisses me off. If it wasnt for guys like Joe, and Alberto I would have sold this thing a long time ago. I am never content, I always want more or something different so I always change things here or there.
In the end at least my motor is still running strong and has a sick *** trap (133.7) for the mods it has.
here are times for some fast production cars for comparison:
10.20 @ 142.0 - Veyron
10.80 @ 135.0 - Enzo
11.1 @ 133.7 - Eagletanggreen 350Z
11.11 @ 138.0 - McLaren
11.22 @ 127.1 - C6 Z06
11.42 @ 126.5 - MB SLR McLaren
11.81 @ 124.0 - Murci LP640
My car traps right up there with a Enzo with DOT tires, for about $900,000 less. When I see things in that aspect it all worth it, cuz when I drive my car , I can say I have a good feeling how fast a Enzo or car of that type feels like. Now with the COsworth plenum on adn the shifter going on this weekend I wouldnt doubt I can get 2 or 4 mph on top of that. That would put me up there with a McLaren.
Not bad with a street car thats registered and smog legal in CA!

I started out with bolt on's, then I upgraded to a turbo. I blew the stock motor, and was forced to make a decision...Either build, or go back to stock. Easy choice, for me there is no sense in looking back, I just keep trying to upgrade at every level, until I have perfection. I didn't intend to blow my stock motor, but I don't have any regrets.

Thats what I thought till I spent all this money on the Z.

I just got done completing my JWT TT kit and various other mods. I've had thoughts about trading the Z in for a Cayman S, C6 ZO6, or an Extige S. However I knew I would just want to mod those. To me it was a better investment to go a bit crazy on the Z than to spend more money on a different car. In the end I'm very happy owning a TT 350Z. I now look at other cars and see just a stock OEM car. Much happier owning a car that I modded for my needs and wants than owning a different car in stock form.

My initial investment paid off. I bought an APS TT kit, installed and tuned it and ran 11.5@121mph with about 10 grand invested in this car. Since then I've invested another 12 grand in the car only to go .3 seconds and 5mph quicker, and with A LOT more headaches. My car STILL doesn't make the power that it should @ 14psi, and I find it harder and harder every day to invest more time and money in this thing.
If I could do it over again, I'd stick with a TT kit on the stock motor and save for a GT-R.
