Warranty for the FI'd guys

Hey I was just wondering what type of warranty are you guys getting on your Shop installed FI setup. ie built motor-how long of a warranty you are given

doug May 3, 2008 10:22 AM

well at MRC if you keep buying Julian donuts every month he will extend your warranty

Each shop has a different policy - best to inquire with them directly...

Even without a warranty, most of the reputable shops will stand behind their work.

SGP sells a warranty on their built motors. I believe the short block warranty is like $300 for 1 year and the long block is $500 for 3 years. I bought the 3 year warranty.

The labor and tuning are warrantied by the installer/tuner respectively. A lot of this depends on what actually goes wrong. If something was installed incorrectly or tuned incorrectly, it should be covered. If a part fails, then the manufacturer of that part will pony up the replacement. However, if a part fails and causes damage to another part, you will not find it easy to get the secondary damage replaced or repaired for free.

Shortblock core is prepped and being machined.....call anytime for updates. :)

Hey, who is going to install the shortblock for you? I hope it's MRC. :)

TheBlackPearlZ May 4, 2008 06:52 AM

wanna build me one too sharif .... i have a feeling mine will only last so long lol.

Weqster May 4, 2008 07:22 PM

lol.

the short answer is, no one. Well, no warrenty on anything that matters. Lets face it, installing parts isnt that hard for someone capable. So if a turbo bolt comes loose, im sure the workshop will do what needs to fix it. But the important warrenty, and that is on your motor, wont be. Well ive never heard of anyone getting a new motor, with no change AT ALL.

Its so easy to play the blame game. If it detonated on a 'good tune (say, dyno verified when it left the shop)', its the cumsters fault or fuel problem.. Wahhhh so easy to pass the buck. The name of the game is money. If u wanna be a baller with a baller setup, be prepared to pay for two or three when they break. Keep your goals reasonable, and u will probably get away with one build...
