Who says vortechs can't make power...
UPDATE DYNO on page 3 :)
Well, I just wanted to start off by thanking Precision Auto for getting this motor back together after getting shafted by Builtzmotor. And I also have to give big props to Justin Nenni for flying down to Fresno, CA to tune my VPRO. All I can say is WOW!!!!!! I was lucky enough to have one of the BEST tuner in the world at my disposal... this man has mad skills and is very big in the Supra world. I highly recommend him and Precision auto. Arite, I guess it's time to reveal my setup and results. Setup: basic stuff CP heavy duty pistons 9:1 (I should have done 9.5:1) Eagle Rods ACL bearings L19 head studs PE head gaskets DW800cc stock heads revup oil pump Nismo R cams Alphawerk headers Kinetix cats borla exhaust Mrev 2+ with 5/16spacers AAM stage 1 fuel setup and pump Koyo radiator and 2 slim fans pathfinder cooler mod Competition stage 4 clutch Vortech T-trim with 2.87 pulley (stock 32T cog) Snow performance stage 2 meth kit GTM idler GTM oil cooler HKS VPRO HKS knock HKS CAMP2 Technosquare reflash AT to MT conversion  Results: 12.5 psi on Dyno Dynamic Dynamometer at 103F (inside)... Fresno gets HOT, lol. 1. 480whp/ 432.3lb tq on 91 octane http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...g?t=1243667154 2. 512.5whp/ 455.3 lb tq with 91 oct + meth kit (a little disappointing that it didnt net more whp/tq) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...g?t=1243667185 Bonus: Super Dave's Supra with 3.4L stroker motor with T45-78 at 26psi before it went (We believe it might have been due to a faulty engine harness but he'll be back and aiming for 1100whp at 35psi.) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...g?t=1243667216 |
nice numbers... congrats.........
|
Thanks :)

wow incredible numbers. I don't even know what half the mods you listed up there do or are haha
If you don't mind, how much did it run to go from auto to manual? |

good deal!
that goes to show that tryin different impellers in the small S series compressor housing is just not worth it as you were about 20 hp higher on less boost. maybe i will throw my vortech on my built motor instead of jumping into to turbos right away. I prolly have some more timing i could advance. Good job pushing the envelope. I better watch more carefully for a Mondo or BV57 bypass. you should submit your car to The Barely legal section at Vortech once you get an ego pumping dynojet. should be close to 575 hp. awesome! also what were your IDC's? i know the 600s were maxxed at 460. you musta been pretty close at 512 |
Good numbers, very solid power.
|
WOW! That's SWEET!!!! I bet that's one crazy monster bro. You makes me put down my other thread :icon39:
What psi W/M spray set at? No extra pictures??? Isn't borla exhaust is too small piping for your setup? |
That is great power for a Vortech. Awsome build, way to represent the Z Vortech crowd. Do you plan on taking it out to the 1320? I would love to see those numbers.
|
What does one do with all the HP and torque in California? lulz
Congrats on the build. |
Congrats on the build. Great numbers!
|
Awesome numbers!!! Way to represent for the Supercharged guys!!!!
|
Nice,
Justin definately knows his stuff. |

I'm very tempted on either doing the 34T cog setup or 2.62 next time around when Nenni comes back... damn, I wish I bought Boogers cog setup when I had the chance  As far as throwing on a Turbo vs SC on a built motor... I think I would have gone w/ twin turbos and called it a day at 600whp if I wasn't stuck in CA. It's definitely a tough call for sure. I actually didn't even use the HKS bypass bc the stock vortech one was working just fine at 12.5psi. I did install the HKS and revved it a few times and it is crazy LOUD compared to the regular vortech bypass for sure. My original plan was to run DW 850cc but those injectors were 300 dollars more expensive than their 800cc so that was a no brainier, lol. The Duty cycle was around 70% so I still have some room. |
Begin SP nutswing:
pharm, SP built a new idler setup for the vortec's that is Much better than the basic vortec idler setup and allows virtually no slip. It obviously isn't as good as a cog setup for slip, but cog setups put other inherit stress on the drive system as well.... just another option especially if you go to a smaller pulley. again, great power. tom /sp nutswing

Ya, I have no pix bc I was a tool and forgot I left the camera in the other car when I took it in for service so I didn't take any while it was on the dyno. THe borla runs like a champ and sounds even deeper/meaner now with the cams backing it up. I know they are small but there's no droning at hi cruising rpms and it doesn't draw any unwanted attentions from the back. I'm making over 500whp so those true dual exhaust are working. |
NIce....:bowrofl:
My hope for my Vortech has increased...my original goals were for 400whp...now that I'm past that, I WANT MORE!!!!! :icon17: New goal, 500 whp...well, first I have to blow my motor...:D |

I will need to call Tim to get more info. SP has made a lot of stuff for the Supra and I'm glad to see they are fabricating stuff for the 350z/g35. |

Not sure about it being a monster but it can put up a good fight if it needs to. The W/M is setup to turn full blast at 3psi and the cool thing about the VPRO is that it is setup to run the pump map if the w/M fails for some reason... got to love the those standalones :bowrofl:

Didn't have any info about fcon, but good to know it can control things when emergency happen. I'm looking forward to purchaae haltech with rfs after replace my brakes(hopefully nothing breaks before that..lol). I need something that can control stock ecu. And I like my aps sounds, pretty quite after add xpipe. I'm pretty sure 500whp isn't joke, I even feel very fast after gain 30whp. Can not image that how 500whp handle :) |
