Powerlab GT35R 8lbs

Well not gonna trash anyone just gonna share my experience.
Finally got my kit complete thanks to my boy Danny (GreenGoblin) and went for tuning today at Japtrix. Tuning done by Roger (the MAN) who showed me step by step how he tunes with the Haltech. Guy is an artist at this stuff and genuinely seems to care bout making sure everything runs right and makes power and explains in detail whats needed and gave me info bout the haltech to use later on myself.
Did about 3-4 runs and final run my G put out 420hp/368ft lbs of torque on 8lbs on a Mustang Dyno!
Overall Im pretty damn happy with the kit and the power it makes. Very reliable and install didnt seem bad at all minus the few parts that showed up late but that was taken care of.
Baseline run first put out 342/320 on 6lbs which was just a small run. I am very impressed with this kit and I must say its pretty clean n straight forward with a competent installer. I can't express enough how happy I am with the outcome of the kit and the power it made on a stock block. The boost could easily be cranked up but stock block i didnt wanna chance it.
Also I had the timing retarded and certain spots to run more richer just to be a lil more on the safe side. The tune is VERY conservative and its still making damn good power. Ill try to post up a vid later but it kinda sucks cuz was taken on my htc tilt. Dannys got the pics of install if he wants to post em up here that would be cool :)
Big thanks to Danny and Roger at Japtrix for everything. N also Powerlab (even though i had certain issues) but Han at Powerlab for the overnight fittings.

GreenGoblin 05-05-2010 06:27 PM

I meant lower!... great numbers for a mustang dyno!!

zman1982 05-05-2010 06:39 PM

Nice setup man, congrats.

I'm looking at getting this kit also right now, up in teh air between it and the STS kit. One thing I wondered is doesn't the IC being blocked by the bumper cause heatsoak or some loss in efficiency at least?

ImWeeZzel 05-05-2010 07:58 PM

I can haz hks true dual?

Tian 05-05-2010 08:10 PM

Congrats man! Looks great

GreenGoblin 05-05-2010 08:20 PM

New bumper for better flow to the intercooler is being addressed already.

thom000001 05-05-2010 08:21 PM

There is probably some efficiency lost by stock G bumper, but I think you'd be amazed how much air is going through at say 60+mph...

On the dyno for sure though it'll get heated.

Still on stock bumper cover here with no heat issues (even on dyno)

Yes sir I thought they were awesome numbers. More than what I was expecting and more than what I wanted for now honestly. Stock block!

As Danny said, Im bout to order the k2 remix or kuruma.. ill flip a coin tomorrow and decide which one. Roger told me changing the bumper would totally help the air flow (duh) and would gimme more power. Im assuming it might cause some lose but for now it seems fine. In open environment stock bumper doesnt seem that bad at all.

Yea I had no heat issues at all whatsoever and I made bout a 60 mile trip each way and was on the dyno doing few runs and few normal runs to check drivability. Never had any heat issues.

Awesome, good to hear.

Those numbers are amazing for a stock block on 8 PSI, I think this just made up my mind to go with the Powerlab kit.

I assume you and greengoblin installed the kit? Was there any nuisances with the install? This will be my first turbo kit install so just wondering what to expect.

Sorry for the thread jack

Elperuano 05-05-2010 08:44 PM

I must say this forum helped a lot as far as knowing what I was getting into and what to expect and what to ask my tuner. Honestly the Haltech to me is mad complex and im still learning how to work with it. After lots of researching i pulled the trigger and here I am :)
It ain't gonna stop here neither... Next step is bumper n aftermarket clutch (leanin towards jim wolf clutch) and then built shortblock!
My set-up is not really meant for boost as Im running semi-aggressive Work wheels, stretch tires n negative camber but car moves as fast as it looks like it should :)
Can't stress how happy I am with this set-up. :) :) :)

no problem bro, like I said earlier GreenGoblin is an awesome installer and im sure it wasnt that much of an issue for him. I think if i had all parts from the get-go and say if it was something of a necessity he could've had it done in like 2-3 days. Of course he wanted to make sure everything was done right and we had to wait on some parts that were wrong, but im sure he can chime in on ur question better than I can.
Roger said he was also impressed with the numbers it made.
