2) Loosen belt. 3) Mark where you want the pulley. 4) Drill a hole that goes through the SC plate. 5) Put enough washers to center the pulley over the belt ( I used 4 thin ones). 6) Pass the bolt from one side to the other and use a locking nut. 7) Tighten belt. That's it.... 15 minutes tops. |
not uderstanding why ur boost would go up unless u had belt slip before???????

although expensive, I think an ATI or FLuidamper crank pulley is the best way to eliminate belt slip. bigger OD means more belt wrap so you dont have to tension the belts so tight.
but thats a great DIY pulley mod. |
ford focus runs a 57mm pulley which is just a tiny big larger than gtm pulley.
I have a 60mm pulley from carquest on mine and it works great. Drill a hole, tap, use. I used a left over spacer from my vortech kit (for another pulley i didn't use) for hte proper backspacing. |
This was the smallest pulley I could find at autozone, it fit great though so I just bought it without even looking anywhere else...lol.

The GTM pulley MOD is a mitsubishi timing belt idler pulley. I purchased one off EBay shipped to my house for $25.00 plus a few bucks for the fasteners.

the timing tensioner pulley for a 2003 ford focus is pretty small too. |

I've been having trouble with getting sizes. I need to contact Hayden and Goodyear and see if their part numbers can be deciphiered into sizes. I saw a few labeled 76mm, but that is much bigger than I care for.

I'm a jackass. I should have just done a search for a xxmm idler pulley. Here is a 50mm
GATES Part # T42028 |
Hmmm...nice. If mine ever fails I'll get that one...or maybe I'll get it anyways and put it under the larger one... :D
|
Just a quick bump, I will be doing this on install
|
Could you not have put an spring idler tensioner pulley instead? That way it dynamically tightens and loosens the belt. :dunno:
