Vortech people, how are your IAT's?
I have a G35 with the stock bumper....my IAT's will go from 100* to over 135* in a single run from 1st to 3rd gear. If I do multiple runs it can even touch 160*. I installed two 7" fans to help cool the intercooler and they help cool it down but the temps still go up very quickly.
Does anyone have the same issues? Is the vortech intercooler crap?
Keep in mind I have the 3.12" pulley.

I use to have the same issue with my vortech back in the day. After 2 pulls it is heat soaked like crazy. I even went far enough to have the piping, intercooler, and supercharger painted with heat resist powder coat. worked fairly well but would still heat soak on the dyno or track and loose power.

At 14.5 psi mine gets up to 130's on a 1st through 4th pull. Then if i do it again right away it'll get up to 150's. Sometimes on run after run i've had them up to 180's.
Almost always it will drop back down fast. 130's is'nt anything really. As long as it drops back down then everything is working ok.
vortech intercooler is small to begin with and it doesn't help that the air passing over the intercooler and radiator is pushed right up into the filter therefore increasing your ambient air temps. If you're sucking in hot air the intercooler can only cool it so much.
90 degree silicone elbow and a foot of 3.5" piping and you can put that filter down in the drivers fender away from the heat. should help with some iat's

I've thought of it for a while but I just don't like any bumper more than the oem one. I've even thought of just putting a huge intercooler on with two huge fans...looks like this may be the route I'm going with.

just going to a large intercooler will help. You can add some air directors out of thin aluminum to help push air over the intercooler You can also do water injection. You won't change your tune but it will decrease those intake temps.
I'm not changing my bumper until someone makes an open front end that is stock height. I'm sick of all these open front ends with ricer low lips. I lowered my car slightly with springs and that's as far as i want to go down. I do'nt want 2" ground clearance in the front.

BTW- I believe the K2 remix bumper is stock height.

i do'nt think it is. if you can show me actual data on how low it sits and it's stock then i'll be all over it. I've looked at everything possible and have yet to find one. I can't remember what a k2 remix is though so idk if it was one of them i looked at. I thought i saw them all.

oOo...i'm excited now....this looks promising. It's not very old which is probably why i havent' seen it. I checked over the winter and just gave up this spring since i was dealing with school and tuning.
Because it's expensive. Two good intercooler cores would run about $700-800 and the custom piping would add at least $300-$400 more.
PLUS, i don't like the fact that they are so short. You get higher efficiency from an intercooler that has more rows (taller endcaps) than you do a wider one. So short and wide will work worse than tall and skinny. That's why the top to bottom flow intercoolers work so well.
anyways, any larger intercooler will help though. the vortech one is pretty small.
Honestly, I think you guys are going through a lot of trouble to band-aid the fact that a stock G35 front bumper is inefficient for getting air to the intercooler & radiator.
I wrestled with this too - I really didn't want to get rid of my nismo or get one of those gawdawful ricer front bumpers. I settled for the Kuruma Z because it was the cleanest looking bumper with an opening for the intercooler, and FWIW, if your drop isn't extreme you won't have much trouble with scraping. I'm lowered on 350z H-techs, plus I'm a heavy SOB, and I hardly ever scrape.
