what do your EGT's read?

i normally watch my EGT's but for the past few months my guage has been "inop"...so i havnt really kept up on it...but now that i got it to work, im watching it and i guess maybe just thining its reading to high, or it actually is...

at about 80mph cruzing, its sitting at 1000....is that about average??? if i jump on it i run up to about 1150...but then as soon as i let off i drop right back down to around 1000...

im just scared im running a bit hot

thanks for any info you guys have!

Where is your egt sensor located?

travismaser Aug 27, 2010 05:56 AM

Its right after the turbo...maybe a foot behind it

1100 after turbo, 1300 on manifold is what I think should be 'normal' for cruising at least. Since you're a foot past the turbo instead of right after it, 1000 seems reasonable.

Mine is right after the turbo and is 1000-1100 when cruising and 1100-1200 when getting on it.

like other people are alluding to, placement is critical, so unless someone has teh exact same placement, their #'s dont mean anything.

Its up to you to log your specific EGTs and see how they compare to each other.

Thank you all!

Is there a "correct" place to put the EGT sensor?

str8dum1 Aug 27, 2010 10:05 AM

not really. some people put them in the exhaust runners all the way down to "right after the turbo...maybe a foot behind it"

i have mine in the greddy manifold right where the runners come together. crusing runs 11-1300* and a long pull in boost it pegs 1600* ( i need a 2k* gauge)
