Finally S/C'ed
 

It's been a big year ( major op :rolleyes: ) it took a while, a few false starts but the Zed is up and running Again.......:thumbup:

I'v always wanted to do a little tracking hence one of the reasons for modding, i know the car is way ahead of my abilities but call me a bit paranoid. I wanted the car prepped.

The Kit is made for the DE. It does fit the revup with the only issues being the pulley set up and the Fcon. Early revups retained the same pulley/belt arrangement as the DE, later ones deleted the centre pulley, so you will need to retro fit. The Fcon i think will have to re-programmed to allow for the variable exhaust cam on the revup, or you go with an aftermarket ecu/tune

So, bought the car, a '06 track roadster off my mate who was transferred to the US for work.( I was ready to buy a new VW Passat V6 4motion ). Then i found the forum and that was a reason enough to look anxiously at the US$ exchange rate on a daily basis.

This what happened-

2009- HiTech Exhaust, K & N drop in, tune. 173kw up to 189kw.
Bilstein pss10 coilivers, Nismo flywheel, Berk HFC's, 19" Volk GTF's ( mistake should have got 18's ) , oil cooler, S/S clutch and brake lines with Motul rbf 600, DBA 5000 on the F and 4000's on the R, Ferodo 2500 pads, rear camber things and alignment.
One day at Eastern Creek with Diz doing the II drivers course on the skid pan, lots of fun.

2010-After reading Kam's Thread (from the other forum) on FI that set me off again. So With research i settled on the HKS GT S/C ( Thanks to Robert and Paul at MVP Motorsports for putting everything together. ). The price had dropped a lot and the exchange rate was getting better all the time. Also added a Cosworth Plenum, Walbro fuel pump, Dwerks 600 injectors and Tomei extractors. You could hang one of these up on the wall and just look at it.
I decided to ditch the supplied HKS Fcon and go with a tune to the oem ecu at SAS.
I am really happy with the result the car has really come alive. 243rwkw, 471nm's

I did a lot of the install myself and it was gratifying to do, learnt a lot. The HKS kit is very well engineered and the documentation comprehensive. The only snag i hit was the "roadster chassis counter weight" it had to be removed as it stuffed up the positioning of the intercooler pipes. Then it was just a matter of jiggling the rest of the pipes and was all good. Word of advice have some aerogard handy if you doing it at home, bloody hell friggn mossies!!!!! I left the original belts on and drove it slowly down to SAS.
I had a new inlet pipe fabricated to get the filter out the hot engine bay and out of sight out of mind!!

There's some gauges on the way, a Ross Tuffbond Harmonic Balancer and thats about it, oh and more driver training.

Thanks guys, yeah the oil cooler does look bigger. Its bolted to the bottom of the bar (Earls 13 row) Our engine bays are so tight for space.

Looks nice! I’ve got to say though…you might want to try and dyno without the Cosworth plenum…a local friend with a Vortech G35 lost a good deal of power by switching to the Cosworth from an OEM manifold/spacer combo.

I did look at that! The Cosworth is pretty much a loss proposition for NA, but usually has good yields for FI. There is not much info out when it comes to FI but quite few teams have gone with it. I did expect a bit more, but for now that's the setup, i might re-do if any more results come up.

i would have done the same with the air filter. it's also why i don't like the stock vortech setup. the heat of the HOT radiator blows right into that area of the engine, basially your sucking in 100+ degree air full time.
